This is just a theory:
Joss Whedon will pit Earth’s Mightiest Heroes against what some consider their greatest enemy (he gets my vote!) in 2015.
Marvel announced that the sequel to Earth’s Biggest Moneymaker will be Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Whedon said the new film will not be based on the recent Age of Ultron storyline by Brian Michael Bendis and will not follow the same comic book origins. Founding Avenger, original Ant-Man and Ultron creator Hank Pym will not appear in the sequel. (See it here on Marvel.com.)
Which ignites at least two big burning questions:
Who will create the ultimate artificial intelligence who becomes a human hating machine of malevolence?
Tony Stark has the intelligence and the ego to think he can create A.I. and control it. I can see Tony trying to come up with a defense system to protect Earth from the alien and other dimensional forces the team fought in the first film. Thanos could definitely have an influence on the plot like he did in the first film but to what extent?
Who will play Ultron?
The evil artificial intelligence can download into many forms from one or more robots or even larger weapons of mass destruction so we can assume Ultron will be brought to inanimate life with the voice of an actor or perhaps motion capture? (Paging Andy Serkis!)
The more I thought about this…the more I thought what if Tony already created Ultron?
What if Jarvis (voiced by Paul Bettany in the Iron Man movies) evolved into Ultron?!
It would be the perfect scenario that Robert Downey, Jr could play the hell out of as his trusted creation becomes the world’s greatest threat that sets him at odds with his fellow Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. The great Paul Bettany is already the perfect actor with the voice and build to be Ultron. If you’ve seen Bettany in films like The Da Vinci Code, Legion and Gangster Number One you know this man can be a force of pure evil and madness with method.
I’m just a geek like you speculating. I have no real insider knowledge just years of comic book reading!
