Agent Carter is coming to ABC television. Hayley Atwell will reprise her role from Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. ABC renewed Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for a second season, too.

Peggy Carter was part of the team who founded S.H.I.E.L.D. and the was great lost love of Steve Rogers. The new series is based on the success of the Agent Carter one-shot that revealed Peggy’s life and career after losing Captain America.

The new series is a fun way to explore more of the past of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Here are 4 Marvel characters perfect for the Agent Carter series:

Howard Stark! What I hope this means the return of Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark. In Captain America: The First Avenger, Stark was part of the team that turned Steve Rogers into a Super Soldier and founder of S.H.I.E.L.D. When you think of the military-industrial complex – Stark is definitely the industry. The father of the future Iron Man could be a great guest star as Peggy turns to the playboy tycoon for gadgets and civilian support.

The Howling Commandos! In Captain America: The Winter Soldier we learned that Peggy married one of the soldiers rescued by Steve Rogers. Was it one of the famous unit who went into battle with Steve? Neal McDonough could reprise his role as Dum Dum Dugan. On Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. it’s been reveled that Agent Triplett is the grandson of a Howling Commando.

Sin! I had a theory – I was wrong – that Alexander Pierce would turn out to be the Red Skull. In comics the super villain survived into the present and has an insane daughter. Sin and Crossbones are a sadistic duo in the modern era but maybe the Red Skull’s deadly daughter could turn up as a post-war foe for Agent Carter.

Namor! While I think Namor the Sub-Mariner could headline his own Marvel movie – this series could be a great way to introduce the idea of the hot-headed hero and the concept of Atlantis into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I’m sure I’ll think of more but those are the top 4 that popped into my head following the big news. Stay tuned for more updates on Agent Carter.
