Who Should Be In JUSTICE LEAGUE Movie?

Snyder is directing the Justice League movie after the Man of Steel sequel (aka Superman vs. Batman.)

It’s a given the DC Comics holy trinity of Superman (Henry Cavill) Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) plus Cyborg (Ray Fisher) are in but which other heroes should join the first big screen adventure of DC’s biggest team.

Let’s look at three critical eras in JL history:

The Founders:

Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan)

The 1960’s Recruits:

Green Arrow, Black Canary, Hawkman, The Atom

The 1970’s Recruits:

Zatanna, Hawkgirl, Red Tornado, Elongated Man, Firestorm, Phantom Stranger

Here are my top picks for big screen status:

Martian Manhunter: Son of Mars #1 courtesy DC Comics

#1 Martian Manhunter (J’onn J’onzz) Stranded on Earth, the brooding alien became a human lawman who would later help the League fight crime and evil aliens. I believe the Manhunter is the perfect member to bring balance to the opposing forces of Kal-El and Bruce Wayne. J’onn could be the harbinger of the invading villain(s) of the big film.

#2 The Flash (Barry Allen) is a founding member of the team. Barry’s superspeed makes him a strategic player, his heart and humor bring humanity to a team of brooding and dark heroes. The police forensic scientist draws upon the Speed Force after a chemical accident involving lightning turns him into a super speedster.

#3 Aquaman (Arthur Curry) If movie fans will accept Wonder Woman from the Amazons will they embrace the King of Atlantis? The son of a human father and Atlantean mother possesses great powers and could be the “Thor” of this team as writers overcome the mythology, long back story and decide which power set to use. There could be a fun scene in which Arthur communicates with marine life in a battle scene over the ocean but let’s just let the warrior fight and throw that trident!

Save ‘Em For the Sequel:

#4 Hawkman Katar Hol is the winged badass half-human, half-Thanagarian police man from the stars. I’d love to see Carter Hall and Batman battle it out. I think Hawkman and his incredible back story, supporting cast: Shayera Thal aka Hawkgirl, Ray Palmer aka The Atom and unique villains like The Shadow Thief make Katar great inspiration for his own film. Book me on the flight to Hawkworld.

#5 Green Lantern (Hal Jordan or John Stewart) some may consider the Green Lantern film a disappointment but there’s no denying the devoted fan base for Jordan but for the Justice League animated series generation, John Stewart is their Lantern. I might get some hate on this but the Green Lantern had his chance. I say bring in the Corps in a future sequel against alien invaders.

#6 Zatanna (Zatanna Zatara) is a powerful mistress of magic. Zatanna followed in the legacy of her famous father, a celebrated illusionist. While Zatanna wears a magician’s costume including top hat but in The New 52 continuity, she’s a more serious hero. With Zatanna producers could explore the supernatural side of the DC Universe and lead to a Justice League Dark and reintroduce John Constantine and summon the Phantom Stranger and Deadman to the big screen.

#7 Vixen – Yes, I pulled a member from the Justice League Detroit era but I just love this woman. Mari Jiwi McCabe is an Africa hero with the power to mimic abilities of any animal. Mari escaped tragedy in Africa to become a supermodel in America and use her wealth to confront her past, take back the totem giving her super powers and would become a globe-trotting hero. X-Men fans rallied online to have Lupita Nyong’o portray Storm in a future film but I think the Oscar winner could bring this DC heroine to life, too.

There you are – one geek’s opinion.

Which DC heroes do you want to see in a Justice League movie?
