A cosmic level whodunit is Marvel’s big 2014 event!

The Watcher is murdered.

The Avengers are on the case in Original Sin, an 8-part mystery by writer Jason Aaron (Amazing X-Men, Thor: God Thunder) and artist Mike Deodato (New Avengers.)

Uatu the Watcher lies dead, his moonbase is ransacked and his collection of powerful objects is stolen.Nick Fury will assemble a team including Captain America, Iron Man and Thor. A separate team including Black Panther, Emma Frost, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man and Punisher conduct their own investigation.

“It’s all the skeletons, all the dark things that you never know, all the interesting and intriguing information — not all of it even bad,” says Marvel executive editor Tom Brevoort tells USA Today  “And it will all expand out into dozens of stories that will cut to the core of who these characters are.”
Infinity in 2013 was a universe shaking event pitting the Avengers against multiple alien threats but “the stakes involved in Original Sin are much more personally involved,” Brevoort says. “It’s all the characters having to deal with something that really throws their whole world for a loop in a very cutting-close-to-the-heart way.”

The Watchers are ancient aliens dedicated to observing and collecting all aspects of life in the universe but never interfere. Uatu is the Watcher who lives on the moon and has interacted with nearly every Marvel hero and team.

Original Sin #0 by Mark Waid and Jim Cheung arrives in April.

Original Sin #1 launches in May.
