Just when Jessica Drew thinks she’s through with secrets and lies she’s gets pulled back in! Isn’t that part of why we love Spider-Woman?
As revealed at New York Comic Con – Jessica is the new recruit for a clandestine unit of S.H.I.E.L.D. in a brand new Secret Avengers #1 by Ales Kot and Michael Walsh.
Maria Hill runs the unit (Hawkeye, Black Widow, Phil Coulson, Nick Fury) taking on S.H.I.E.L.D.’s most dangerous field missions. Can Jessica trust anybody on the team?
“Maria Hill runs S.H.I.E.L.D and therefore she runs the team as well. Hawkeye is a wild card thanks to events that have happened shortly before and prompted him to change his path a bit. Black Widow, Spider-Woman, Phil Coulson, Fury Jr. and…someone else are the Secret Avengers. And whether that someone else is to be trusted or not is entirely up to you. Based on the past, I would not necessarily believe everything he or she says. Then again, anyone can change,” Kot explains on Marvel.com.
“Maria Hill has a history of lying to people and erasing their brains. Fury Jr. shot Hawkeye once upon a time. Coulson works for Hill, so who knows? Hawkeye lies by accident from time to time. Black Widow is a spy and therefore she fakes quite often. And Spider-Woman can be a bit confused sometimes.
So…trust? Sure, you can trust them.”
Kot teased we’ll see the twisted relationship between Jessica and Clint get tangled up in the missions, too.
Secret Avengers #1 is coming in March. Maybe the success of this upcoming team could lead to Jessica Drew guest starring on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?
