Who are the Utopians?
All-New X-Men #40 (in Marvel‘s April previews) asked “Who are the Utopians?” and “what secret do they hold that pertains to the future of mutantkind?”
This blast from recent past may affect the future of the Children of the Atom.
Cyclops created a bright new future for the X-Men in San Fransisco. Then Norman Osborn’s Dark Reign began. Osborn ordered his Dark Avengers and H.A.M.M.E.R. (his twisted version of S.H.I.E.L.D.) to restore his kind of order after anti-mutant riots erupted in their new home.
In a bold move – Cyclops raised Magneto’s fallen asteroid base in created his own sovereign Nation X off the California coast. Utopia was sunk by the Phoenix Five (Scott, Emma Frost, Colossus, Magik and Namor) in the Avengers vs. X-Men conflict.
Brian Michael Bendis could be sending the young X-Men into the wreckage of the former haven that once united all mutants – hero, villain and otherwise.
Is this a clue to a possible X-Men Exodus from the Jean Grey School and Xavier School and finding a new home base or a comeback for forgotten mutants off the grid since the fall of Utopia?
