With Superman (Henry Cavill) Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) in the Man of Steel sequel the speculation turns to who will be the villain or villains in the Zack Snyder directed follow-up.
Let’s look at the story so far…
Callan Mulvey joined the cast in an indisclosed role. Mulvey was in Zero Dark Thirty and plays role in Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Game of Thrones veteran Jason Momoa is in talks to join the cast. Both actors are big, bold and built with tough guy resumes.
Who could they be playing?
Metallo – John Corben is a cyborg super villain. The military hero was wearing a Lexcorp battlesuit when a piece of Kryptonine was lodged in the armor. Metallo is the perfect bad guy armed with Superman’s one weakness so Clark would need Bruce to defeat Corben in battle. Mulvey is a dead ringer for Corben.
Doomsday – Who wants to keep Momoa hidden under tons of rock makeup but the man who played Conan could be the genetically engineered Kryptonian monster.
Lex Luthor – the ultimate Superman villain should be the played carefully by Warner Brothers. Luthor could be the Ernst Stavro Blofeld (the evil mastermind in the James Bond movies who was finally revealed on screen after 3 films) of this series. Lexcorp was established in Man of Steel and I think Luthor should be a mastermind manipulating the Batman/Superman conflict and Metallo or Doomsday. While fans have voted Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) as a perfect Luthor I think the ruthless CEO should be Clark’s contemporary and Mulvey looks the part. My vote is still for Damian Lewis (Homeland.)
Darkseid – the evil ruler of a rival universe is THE big bad you have to save for the a Justice League movie.
I’m still hoping for Brainiac – here’s my take on why and who should play him.
