X-Men: Days of Future Past in just a few months away but director Bryan Singer is already thinking of which mutants would be in the sequel, X-Men: Apocalypse.

“I’m considering a Gambit and potentially a young Nightcrawler for Apocalypse,” he said. “[I was] going to have Nightcrawler appear [in Days of Future Past] and even wrote a scene, but I felt that we were forcing too many mutants known history,” Singer told Cine Premiere.

Nightcrawler was played by Alan Cumming in X2: X-Men United. The mutant teleporter who looks like a demon is coming back from the dead in the pages of Amazing X-Men and will get in his solo series by legendary writer Chris Claremont in April. Claremont’s story is the basis for the upcoming film. A different mutant teleporter appears in DOFP – Blink from Generation X.

Gambit (Remy LaBeau) was played by Taylor Kitsch in X-Men: Origins: Wolverine. Remy is currently starring in All-New X-Factor.

If Gambit is in the sequel it could be a sign Mr. Sinister is in it, too. Gambit worked for the evil scientist before becoming an X-Man. Sinister is servant (secretly plotting against) Apocalypse.

The title of the upcoming film could mean an alternate dimension. Age of Apocalypse is an alternate timeline in the comics in which Xavier died and Magneto formed the X-Men in his honor to fight Apocalypse. The Nightcrawler of that dimension (see above) entered our timeline and caused chaos in his quest to return home.

Here are our hopes and predictions for who might be in X-Men Apocalypse.
