Magneto, Storm, Psylocke and Angel are the Horsemen of Apocalypse in X-Men: Apocalypse on the big screen.

Colossus is now a Horsemen in the pages of Extraordinary X-Men.

Why do heroes fall under the power of En Sabah Nur?

You might be surprised how many other heroes (including Avengers) have joined the evil immortal mutant’s side.

Here are the surprising and craziest Horsemen of Apocalypse lineups from comics:

Archangel of X-Factor:

Back in the day, the original X-Men reunited to become X-Factor and faced a new villain named Apocalypse (during the epic Louise and Walt Simonson run) and his evil henchmen including the Morlock Plague now code-name Pestilence. Warren Worthington lost his mutant feather wings in the fight to save the Morlocks from the Marauders in the Mutant Massacre story. The loss of his wings and fortune led the despondent Angel to become Archangel. Apocalypse gave Warren a new set of wings – made of deadly poison blades he could fire at victims and a death blue appearance.

Caliban, the once peaceful mutant tracker from the Morlock tribe was transformed into Death during the X-Cutioner’s Song event.

Hulk? Even non-mutants are not immune to the Apocalypse influence. The Green Goliath was briefly War.

Wolverine and The Twelve?

In the 90’s Logan had his adamantium stripped from his body. Logan was back to bone claws but lost his fighting edge and started devolving before eventually being killed by the mysterious new Horseman Death. That Wolverine was actually a Skrull imposter. That Death was actually Wolverine. What? Apocalypse gave Logan his adamantium skeleton and claws back but brainwashed him into becoming his new Death. This Horsemen included Deathbird, a Shi’ar warrior, and Ahab, a scientist turned mutant hating hunter of the future. This twisty era was also during The Twelve story. Twelve omega level mutants were destined to join together to defeat the immortal enemy once and for all.

Two more X-Men & The Blood of Apocalypse

In the aftermath of M-Day (aka the Decimation where the mutant race was drastically reduced from millions to less than a hundred and the no more mutants would be born) Apocalypse returned to save his dying face. Gazer (a mutant astronaut who absorbed radiation but got radiation sickness after losing his power) agreed to become War. Sunfire losts his powers and his legs in battle and became Famine. The biggest shocker was Gambit, who agreed to become Death to infiltrate Apocalypse’s team and become a mole to protect the X-Men.

The Apocalypse Solution:

Wolverine formed his own Uncanny X-Force team to stop the rebirth of Apocalypse. The new Horsemen were unknowns but from humans and mutants from ancient Rome, Persian, Japan and a Confederate soldier. The reborn En Sabah Nur (a young boy) was killed (and later cloned) and Archangel succeeded him as the new Apocalypse.

Uncanny Avengers & The Apocalypse Twins

Just when you thought Rick Remender couldn’t get any crazier, he unleashed the Apocalypse Twins, the children of Archangel and his Pestilence but raised in the future by Kang the Conqueror.  The new Horsemen were all resurrected foes and teammates of the Avengers and X-Men: Grim Reaper, Banshee, Sentry, Daken – Wolverine’s son.

Apocalypse Wars

Mutants are now going extinct because of Terrigenesis which creates new Inhumans but attacks mutant DNA. When 600 mutant embryos are stolen and taken into the future, Colossus and his squad of X-Men in training pursue, followed by Storm’s team, who actually arrive a year AFTER Colossus. Storm’s Extraordinary X-Men encounter what might be the craziest version of the Horsemen yet in this Omega World: Colossus, Deadpool, a female Moon Knight and Venom

X-Men: Apocalypse is now playing and Apocalypse Wars is playing out in the pages of Extraordinary, Uncanny, All-New X-Men books now.
