Victoria Hand is making the leap to television in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Saffron Burrows joins the hit as Victoria Hand on the next episode (November 12th.)

“We decided it was time to send little S.H.I.E.L.D., our show’s team of six, into the big S.H.I.E.L.D. facility,” says executive producer Jed Whedon of the episode in the new TV Guide.

“We especially wanted to throw Skye, who is new to all this, into the massive organization she was once scared of. Victoria Hand is the next phase of the fans’ S.H.I.E.L.D. experience — a strong, ruthless woman who will do anything to get the job done. She and Agent Coulson will have a power play.”

Here’s what you need to know about Victoria Hand:

Created by Brian Michael Bendis and Mike Deodato during their New Avengers run.

During Dark Reign era, Norman Osborn (Spidey villain Green Goblin) had convinced the U.S. government he was a reformed man and was put in charge of S.H.I.E.L.D. which he renamed H.A.M.M.E.R. and he even had his own Dark Avengers .

Hand was a S.H.I.E.L.D. accountant promoted to be Osborn’s right hand. After Osborn’s defeat Captain America recruited Hand to work for the Avengers.

Hand is a strong career woman. Whedon confirmed the show version will be a lesbian like her comic book counterpart.
