“An Ending. A Beginning.
ResurrXion.”
Marvel revealed a new teaser with the X-Men logo as the “X” and the lightning bolts from Black Bolt’s costume in the “O” signalling a third X-Men, Inhumans series.
Death of X #2 arrives this week. This four-part series by Jeff Lemire and Charles Soule reveals the fate of Cyclops in the eight months after Secret Wars in which we learned the Terrigen Mist that create new Inhumans are killing mutants and sets the stage for the Inhumans vs. X-Men event beginning in December.
What is ResurrXtion? Will it mean victory, defeat, peace between mutants and Inhumans?
Will a fallen mutant be resurrected?
Scott Summers is believed to be dead. Emma Frost is MIA. We’re learning what happened to them in Death of X.
Will Cyclops be resurrected? His younger self is currently in the Champions. Scott Summers has been a controversial figure after killing Professor X (he was possessed by the Phoenix) and his extreme measures to protect his fellow mutants, even becoming what many consider the new Magneto. Cyke was right. It’s time for Scott’s redemption and rebirth.
Professor Xavier? Charles Xavier’s body was destroyed in AvX but he seemed to be appearing and psychically guiding Storm in the early issues of Extraordinary X-Men. Could Xavier’s body be dead but the essense be on the astral plane ready for a new host? What if the Professor in the past (after meeting Tempus in the X-Men run by Brian Bendis) saw the future by reading her mind and prepared for his resurrection?
Wolverine. Is it time? Old Man Logan lives. X-23 is the All-New Wolverine. But does Marvel have room for the original?
Could a combination of Terrigen and Logan’s healing factor revive the fallen X-Man and provide the genetic cure that allows mutant and Inhuman to share the planet?
If a dead X-Man could be resurrected, who would you want to see get a fresh start?
Watch for X-Men/Inhumans:ResurrXion news this week.
