The action picks up after Phil Coulson and his crew were seized by mysterious men. Coulson wakes up in what looks like a prison cell in outer space.

In a new trailer via Twitter for Season 5 the Kree are back but a new monster is on the loose.

What is this creature?

It sure looks like a Brood. These are parasitic insectoid aliens first seen in the X-Men comics. The fanged aliens follow a Queen and infect their victims with eggs in order to hatch more of their species. The Brood were co-created by the legendary X-Men team Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum. The first Marvel hero to encounter Brood warriors was Captain Mar-Vell.

The Kree are blue-skinned warriors. Ronan the Accuser and Korath were Kree renegades appearing in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. On AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. the Kree experimented on ancient humans making them what have become Inhumans. (The same origin as comics) The Kree have come back to wipe out the descendants of the warriors they created and forgot.

Who is the person in the helmet? The helmet looks like a cross between Star-Lord and Xorn.

Here are new cast members with their official descriptions:

Deke (Jeff Ward) is the ultimate survivor and roguish scavenger, the guy who can get people what they need, but at what price is he asking. With his sharp mind and quick wit, he is both a real asset in a tight spot and hard man to trust.

Tess (Eve Harlow) is resourceful, striving to be self-sufficient in very different circumstances, but she has hung on her hopes for a better future for herself and those closest to her. She is living proof that even in the toughest of times, good people will still fight for each other.

Flint (Coy Stewart) is a young man who’s been forced to grow up fast in a tough environment but hasn’t lost his desire to make something of himself. When he crosses paths with our SHIELD team, he may just get the chance to prove that he’s capable of big things. This is based on the new Inhuman co-created by Charles Soule.

Grill (Pruitt Taylor Vince) is a gruff taskmaster, lording over those under his command with an unforgiving temperament. He has no illusions about the world he lives in and this makes him a man not easily fooled, or cursed.

Nick Blood will return as mercenary Lance Hunter.

Marvel’s AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. returns December 1st on ABC.
