It was a huge week for Batgirl fans:
Barbara Gordon’s mission in Batgirl Annual #1 brought her face to face with Helena Bertinelli, Batwoman, The Spoiler and her big fans from Gotham Academy.
But it was a near-miss that sent hearts fluttering and creative team Cameron Stewart, Brenden Fletcher and Babs Tarr delivered on a big tease surrounding a major character in Batgirl’s life.
Before we continue here’s a SPOILER ALERT!
If you did not read Batgirl Annual #3 or Batgirl #42 yet stop reading now.
Seriously.
Here it comes.
While on a mission to find missing scientist Barbara formed an alliance with Helena and a mystery agent of Spyral. It was Dick Grayson. Barbara does not know Dick is alive and working as a covert operative in the secret agency.
Dick and Barbara almost touched, then she almost saw through his disguise but alas, the fan-favorite couple that will never be…is staying that way and she continues to think he died.
But the shocks kept coming in Batgirl #42.
As Barbara (in uniform) clashed with the new Batman (her father Jim Gordon in uniform) Livewire crashed the fight.
Barbara survived but discovered an intruder at her Burnside home.
This was a more pleasant surprise.
Alyssia Yeoh who shared some big news: she’s engaged!
It’s a big step for a breakthrough character. Yeoh was the first transgender character in a mainstream comic book. Alysia was created by Gail Simone.
How will Barbara balance her nights of crime-fighting with her Maid of Honor duties?
