Dick Grayson is back in black and blue.

The master spy with no code-name returns to Gotham City and reclaims the title and embarks on a new mission.

Grayson by Tom King and Tim Seeley was a thrill ride but there’s something about Dick seeing as Nightwing again that just feels so perfect.

This week Tim Seeley launches Nightwing into the future without ditching what happened in the past that built him into such a beloved character.

Nightwing: Rebirth #1 is not a clean break but a chance to wrap up loose ends and set the stage for Dick’s future.

You could almost call this one-shot Seeley’s love letter to Nightwing fans.

And Grayson’s arch enemy gets a Rebirth in this action and nostalgic packed one-shot.

Before we continue here’s a SPOILER ALERT!

If you have not read yet stop reading now.

Seriously.

OK.

Here it comes.

Dick and Damian Wayne reunite with an homage to the pre-New 52 era when Dick and Damian were Batman and Robin when Bruce was presumed dead.

Dick’s previous series and connection with Spyral is wrapped up and also sets up Helena Bertinelli for her role as Huntress in the upcoming Batgirl and the Birds of Prey.

Seeley revisits the fun and frisky relationship between Dick and Midnighter giving fans hope they may cross paths again.

The biggest twist is the Parliament of Owls making their first appearance since the Robin War finale. The evil organization gets its own Rebirth with a violent coup leading to a new leader and new masks but still focused on their Nightwing objective.

Instead of a major reboot, this Rebirth one-shot reminds us of what we love about Dick Grayson by honoring what makes him a great character in the past, present and future.

What about Dick and the Dark Knight’s relationship?

Better Than Batman begins in Nightwing #1 next month.
