A rookie X-Man’s lost story is revealed this week in Uncanny X-Men Annual #1.

Tempus (Eva Bell) is one of the new mutants created by Brian Michael Bendis since taking over Uncanny X-Men and launching All-New X-Men.

Eva can stop time. The Australian mutant vanished during a training session in the Tabula Rasa. Eva only disappeared from her teammates for a moment but when you have the power of manipulating time reality can get twisted.

Bendis explores how long Tempus was away and what happened to her.

“It is of the utmost grandest X-Men tradition to have your mutant power be the coolest thing about you and the scariest thing about you. Eva has a very interesting and scary power set. It was only a matter of time before she was thrust into a situation that revealed the scary side of her time related powers. This was in my mind during the initial creation stage of the character, but it’s one of those ideas you have to hold onto because it only works if you know the character a little,” Bendis told Marvel.com.

Bendis calls this issue “a defining moment for her. And the fallout of this defining moment will define who she is in relation to the X-Men going forward—and it wasn’t where she or us thought she was going.”

Bendis is joined by artist Andrea Sorrentino (Green Arrow) in her Marvel debut.

Uncanny X-Men Annual #1 arrives Wednesday.
