The torch is passed and a new beginning launches in Ultimate Comics Ultimates #25 this week! Look what’s coming up in the pages of the Avengers of the Ultimate Universe: the INFINITY GAUNTLET!
Sam Humphries leaves and Joshua Hale Fialkov takes over. Humphries revealed at Emerald City Comicon that he’ll be introducing a West Coast Ultimates in the final issues of his run.
Fialkov told Marvel.com the storylines he’ll pick up from the Humphries run as Ultimates Disassembled begins:
“Well, the Infinity Gems from Sam’s run as well as the newer arrangement of team members are all there for me. A lot of the story elements we’re playing with are things that Sam was intending to do, just, put through my own prism. That’s how I make it sound like I didn’t just outright steal all of Sam’s ideas.”
More good news for longtime Ultimates fans, Fialkov says he’ll explore ideas going back to Jonathan Hickman and Mark Millar’s era.
“Oh yeah, I’m a huge fan of the Ultimate Fantastic Four as well as the Ultimate Galactus and Ultimate Doomsday stories. All of which will be playing a part. And, anyone who’s read any of my other work know I love changing status quos, and that means characters you haven’t seen in a long time might just reappear and wreak havoc.”
Expect new characters and maybe current members to blow up…literally!
“Well, after our Ultimates are disassembled, so to speak, it’s going to be time for a New Ultimates crew to rise. Let’s just say, I have a few ideas…”
