Top Four Stories of the Year

As we count down to 2017 let’s look back at the top four stories of the year here based on your page views.

4. Agents of SHIELD Reveals Hydra’s Inhuman Secret

The new season went into supernatural mode with Ghost Rider driving the series new mystery (and unleashing the Darkhold) but our readers were still fascinated by last season’s big twist involving Grant Ward, Hydra, the Inhumans and Malveth. When the series returns in 2017, LMD (Life Model Decoy) will be the main focus but the Inhumans will remain and big part of the show as Marvel marches towards the launch of an Inhumans series on ABC later next year.

3. Superman’s Savage New Year

The first Superman arc of 2016 was a big hit with Man of Steel fans. After being powerless for most of 2015, the New 52 Superman was poised for a comeback to full power only to suffer a heartbreaking fate just before DC Rebirth and the return of the classic Superman.

2. New X-Men Books Reveal Fate of Cyclops

The secret is out now but Scott Summers was missing in action and presumed dead following Secret Wars and all of 2016. In a flashback tale, Death of X revealed what happened to Scott and Emma when mutants first learned of the fatal danger the Terrigen Mists held for them. Even with X-Men saying Scott was dead in late 2015, some of us X-fans still believed the X-leader was somehow still out there fighting the good fight.

1. Why Is He The Worst X-Man?

The worst is the best? The story of Bailey Hoskins continued into this year and this post is crowned by readers as the most viewed on our site. Max Bemis and Michael Walsh crafted a fun, comedy tale with a tragic tone given the nature of Bailey’s mutant power. This five-part limited series may have been out of continuity but beautifully fitting in the theme of X-Men books in a tale of coping with your identity, what makes you different and human.

Congratulations to Bemis, Walsh and Marvel’s X-Men editorial office.
