The Walking Dead creator and executive producer Robert Kirkman set the record straight on a popular character and teased what’s ahead on The Talking Dead after the mid-season finale.
After a fan asked about Daryl Dixon Kirkman discussed the asexuality of the character and went on to say the character was straight but he and the network would not have had a problem if the character was gay.
Kirkman went on the tease “a gay character from the comics” would be appearing in the second half of the season.
Spoiler Alert:
If you have not read the comics once the survivors head for Washington, D.C. stop reading now.
Here it comes:
In the comics Aaron first appeared in issue 67 of the series as member of the Alexandria safe-zone community. Aaron and his partner Eric were recruiters for Douglas, leader of the Alexandria safe-zone. Aaron and Eric would go out to find survivors, watch and offer them a test. If the group welcomed Aaron – they passed and would be taken to Douglas. If the group made an attempt on Aaron’s life – Eric was waiting and watching with a rifle.
There’s no official word on new characters or stories for the second half of the season.
The Walking Dead returns February 8th.
