“The Image Revolution” Trailer

I remember the formation of Image Comics. As a devoted Marvel fan I was upset my favorite artists were leaving my favorite books. Then I got my first look at W.I.L.D.Cats, Spawn, Youngblood, Cyberforce, Wetworks and so many more that followed.

I was just at an Image Comics panel at Emerald City Comicon and seeing today’s books like The Walking Dead, The Manhattan Projects, Saga, Great Pacific, BlackAcre made me think how the industry and the company has evolved. One much younger fan actually asked the creators about how the company started – maybe that was a story to be told.

It has. And it looks like it covers the good, the bad and the ugly.

The Image Revolution is a new documentary that takes you back to the early 90’s (including VHS footage) to show the formation of the company when the biggest artists in the world declared their independence, ignited the creator-owned movement and revolutionized comic books.

The Hollywood Reporter Heat Vision has this exclusive first look at the trailer.

This takes me back! I remember when these artists were the rock stars of the industry and the mass exodus was shocking.

This documentary is definitely on my must list. I’ve been obsessed with comic book history lately devouring The SuperGirls by Mike Madrid and SuperGods by Grant Morrison.
