Mutants on the run as the X-Men franchise evolves to television.
Marvel shared a new trailer for THE GIFTED at San Diego Comic-Con. This extended look is the biggest one yet showcasing characters with famous comic book code-names:
Who are these mutants:
Andy and Lauren Strucker are the teens with newly manifested mutant powers who go on the run with their parents. The father hunted mutants for the government. In comics Von Strucker is the infamous name of a Captain America villain whose twin children were mutants who went by the code-name Fenris.
The family is given refuge by mutants living in the shadows.
Thunderbird. In the comics John Proudstar has super-strength but appears to have new abilities in the series. John’s brother James later took the name Thunderbird but as a villain. He later reformed and took the name Warpath and joined X-Force then X-Men. Warpath appeared in the possible future of X-MEN DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.
Polaris. In comics Lorna Dane is the mistress of Magnetism and Magneto’s daughter known for her green hair.
Blink. This character appeared in a possible future of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST film. Clarice first appeared and died in the pages of the X-MEN as the GENERATION X students were first manifesting powers.
Eclipse is a new mutant for the show.
The upcoming show marks the second collaboration between Marvel Television and the team behind Fox’s X-Men film franchise. LEGION was a hit on FX.
THE GIFTED premieres Monday, October 2nd on Fox.
