Can’t wait for the next episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. after this week’s blockbuster premiere?

The television series inspired by The Avengers movie could mark the first appearance of some classic heroes, villains and spies from the comic books.

Here are some excellent superspy stories that just might be elements on future episodes of the hit series:

The Ultimates Mark Millar’s modern take on the Avengers that gave us the Samuel L. Jackson Nick Fury of the Marvel movies. It’s a 21st century take on Earth’s Mightiest Heroes fighting an alien invasion.

Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. This is the old school original Fury by the one and only Jim Steranko. The boundary breaking artist chronicled the 60’s superspy in a powerful pop style that must be seen to be believed.

Nick Fury vs. S.H.I.E.L.D. Fury is framed and the organization he built goes gunning for him. Who can Nick trust when an evil cabal corrupts the highest levels of the superspy agency? A tale of cults, double crosses and Nick solo by Bob Harras.

Secret War When costumed criminals become super-armed terrorists with the latest tech Nick Fury tracks the conspiracy to Latveria and recruits a covert team including Wolverine, Black Widow to go after the source. An action packed mix of undercover espionage and super heroics by Brian Michael Bendis.

Secret Warriors Nick Fury is out of S.H.I.E.L.D. and underground but don’t count him out when the Earth is slowly being taken over by a secret invasion. Fury’s “caterpillar” program finds kids with super power potential and he mentors them into an elite team. Eden Fasi is now part of the Avengers. I would love to see Daisy Johnson (aka Quake) turn up on the television series.

Which Marvel character would you most like to see turn up on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?
