The nostalgic and fun joyride Doctor Who Prisoners of Time from IDW Publishing continues with a new chapter starring the Fifth Doctor (Peter Davison.) Fans of the Davison era will love this week’s adventure and be swept up in the year long story celebrating the Time Lord’s 50th Anniversary!
I just enjoyed BBC America’s look back at the Fifth Doctor so this week’s arrival is a wonderful way to continue the celebration of the Time Lord from the 1980’s!
Each chapter has focused on each of the previous Doctors. An invisible enemy has kidnapped each of those Doctor’s companions. Doctor Who Prisoners of Time #5 reveals the current fate of the missing companions and the main villain planning his next move.
The Fifth Doctor along with companions Adric, Nyssa and Tegan materialize in an alien war zone. Peter Davison never fought the Sontarans during his run (1981-1984) and the Fifth Doctor’s encounter with the genetically bred soldiers takes a surprising turn in this episode. The Doctors facing new but familiar enemies has been a fun twist in this series. For example, Tom Baker’s Fourth Doctor encountered the Jadoon (a creation of the David Tennant era) in the last issue.
Scott and David Tipton create another exciting chapter that takes you back to the Doctor Who era who love while moving the overall mystery forward! Phillip Bond’s art captures the wonderment and fun of the Fourth Doctor era and his young companions.
