The Race of His Life was an emotionally charged finale for season two of The Flash.

Barry must cope with a heartbreaking loss while saving the multiverse from Zoom in a race with massive consequences for the winner, the loser.

The race outcome and a big revelation sends the series racing in new directions.

If you have not seen the most recent episodes of The Flash stop reading now.

Seriously.

OK.

Here it comes.

The finale picks up with the tragic final moments of last week’s episode after Zoom killed Henry Allen.

Jay Garrick was Hunter Zoloman and not from Earth-2 but from another world entirely, one he called Earth-3. The real Garrick was the man in the mask Zoom kept as a trophy.

After Barry defeated Zoom, the speed wraiths came to destroy the villain.

The man in the mask was freed and revealed: the real Jay Garrick was a lookalike of Barry’s now dead father. Both played by John Wesley Shipp. The real Jay donned the helmet and took Harrison and Jesse back to Earth-2 thanks to Cisco’s power.

The day was won but Barry was conflicted with a mix of emotions after watching his father die, and now seeing this man who looks like his dad.

Barry finally had Iris but he needed peace.

Barry sped back to the night his mother died only this time, he stopped Reverse Flash from killing his mom, seeing the other version of himself that traveled to this point from season one disappear, and changes his past.

If Nora is safe, what about the rest of the characters of this or other Earths?

Will this time change lead to disastrous effect like when Barry did this in the comic book event Flashpoint? During this epic, Barry lost his powers but saw a dark world where Thomas Wayne became Batman, Superman became a government prisoner.

What could this mean for next season?

Will Barry be powerless?

Will Barry meet and team up with Thomas Wayne to get his powers back? (Which could mean a potential crossover with Gotham on Fox?)

Will Nora Allen be a regular cast member?

If Nora lived and Henry never went to prison – what will Barry’s relationship be with Joe and Iris?

Does this mean the Earth-1 Harrison Wells could return?

What does this mean for the fate of Eddie Thawne – could be return?

Barry may have saved his mother in hopes of finding peace but at what price?
