PHOENIX RESURRECTION The Other X-MEN Surprises

Long live Jean Grey. Again.

I once wrote “I love you Jean, please stay dead.” I was torn over Jean’s return. I’m no longer torn. I’m intrigued, excited and thrilled a comic book can still shock me.

The milestone Uncanny X-Men #600 marks the end of an era by Brian Michael Bendis. This week the fan favorite writer’s final issue wraps up his run on Uncanny X-Men and All-New X-Men.

From Cyclops and his Revolution vs. S.H.I.E.L.D. to Battle of the Atom to The Black Vortex we saw plenty of action and intrigue with classic and new enemies.

What about the surprising team bonding, romantic twists and personal moments that show why the X-Men are a family….dysfunctional but a family.

Here are some of our favorite moments of the Bendis X-Men run: Continue reading X-MEN BEST OF BENDIS

JEAN GREY ALIVE by BENDIS

Confession:

I was not eager for the return of Jean Grey. Ever since the birth of Hope Summers and up to the All-New Marvel Now teaser, Jean’s possible return was teased.

I thought poor Jean had been through enough after deaths and resurrections. I even wrote I love you Jean Grey, stay dead.

Then Brian Michael Bendis took on the X-Men and brought Jean back in a way no one was expecting. The blast from the past reinvigorated the X-Men’s future.

Bendis will leave the franchise with Uncanny X-Men #600. As the fan-favorite writer looks back on his run, he reveals his favorite moments and achievements. I had to share this one about the beloved Marvel girl. Continue reading JEAN GREY ALIVE by BENDIS

The future is “Extraordinary” for the Children of the Atom! A new adjective for the new flagship X-Men coming after Secret Wars.

Marvel announced All-New Hawkeye writer Jeff Lemire, Amazing Spider-Man artist Humberto Ramos and colorist Edgar Delgado will be the team behind Extraordinary X-Men as revealed by Comic Book Resources.

A brand new team led by Storm with old and new versions of favorite X-Men will band together after “something big” happens between Inhumans and mutants including the disappearance of Cyclops.

It’s tied to the Terrigen Mists released by Black Bolt back in Avengers Infinity event. The Terrigen Cloud gave way to a new generation of Inhumans and now it’s affecting mutants. Continue reading EXTRAORDINARY X-MEN by JEFF LEMIRE
