A real world phenomenon is part of the inspiration for G. Willow Wilson’s upcoming X-Men arc guest starring Gambit.

Storm, Psylocke, Monet and Rachel Grey investigate a mysterious event in The Burning World starting in X-Men #23.

This will be a four-part arc by  Ms. Marvel writer Wilson and artist Roland Boschi.

Will the powerful mutants be outmatched against what might be a natural phenomenon and how will a mutant like Storm react to this mysterious enemy. Chris Claremont’s vision of the X-Men is the core of Fox’s film franchise. The legendary writer guided the Children of the Atom for nearly two decades in comics. The Dark Phoenix Saga, God Loves Man Kills, Days of Future Past, The Wolverine are iconic stories that inspired the film franchise. Claremont is now working on a treatment for Gambit for Fox.

After X-Men: Apocalypse how does Claremont think the film franchise could evolve?

A junior X-Man jumps up the front burner in Amazing X-Men #13 this week.

“Anole’s deepest fears are unleashed on the streets of New York City”  in this tale by James Tynion IV (Batman Eternal).

Nightcrawler and Northstar attempt to save Victor. This marks a reunion between Anole and his mentor Northstar – two of the openly gay Marvel characters.

Marvel heroes dominated the movie box-office. 2014 is the year Marvel really went into orbit with a ragtag bunch of “losers” who injected new excitement into their cinematic universe.

Here are great gifts for Marvel fans inspired by this year’s hit.

Guardians of the Galaxy was Marvel’s biggest gamble yet with little known heroes who aren’t really superheroes. Chris Pratt was Peter Quill/Star-Lord who assembled Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot into unlikely heroes against the Ronan the Accuser. Writer/director James Gunn gave fans a Star Wars for the Marvel Universe. The film also introduced the Nova Corps, Nebula and Josh Brolin as Thanos. Spider-Man is keeping a promise to Wolverine by joining the Jean Grey School as the new guidance counselor and undercover operative in a brand new series.

Before he died, Wolverine asked Parker to uncover a conspiracy within the school. It’s up to Spidey to find out which student is not what they seem.

With students like Shark Girl, Eye Boy and Quentin Quire – former odd teenager Peter Parker should find a way to connect with the kids. What will Storm and the adult X-Men think of Spidey joining the school?
