A new X-book is coming this summer but what’s the title and on who’s on the team?
The mutant/Inhuman war concludes with IvX #6 this new comic book week. ResurrXion is the aftermath with new X-books coming this Spring (X-Men: Gold, X-Men: Blue, Weapon X, Jean Grey, Iceman, Cable, Generation X) while All-New Wolverine and Old Man Logan will continue.
ResurrXion marks a rebirth for the X-Men books in 2017.
Marvel announced new titles starring Iceman, Jean Grey, Cable, Weapon X, Generation X and two flagship books: X-Men Gold, X-Men Blue.
If the news has your feeling nostalgic for more ’90’s excitement we’re with you. After all Blue and Gold teams were the stars of the first X-Men #1 by the legendary team of Chris Claremont and Jim Lee and Uncanny X-Men #281 by Claremont and Whilce Portacio.
As the mutants experience a rebirth next year, we can’t help but hope for a return of more mutants, books and teams. Here are our more ResurrXion X-books for your consideration:
Marvel revealed the team rosters and creative teams via IGN for the two flagship titles coming in April 2017.
X-Men: Gold by writer Marc Guggenheim and artist Ardian Syaf starring Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Old Man Logan, Rachel Grey and Kitty Pryde named as team leader. Pryde will be leaving the Guardians of the Galaxy to come home to lead her fellow mutants. It appears Storm is returning to her classic look from the Chris Claremont/Dave Cockrum/John Byrne era. Over the years, Annuals seem like bonus issues that may be good reads but not critical to an ongoing or future storyline.
You may want to run back to your comic book shop if you skipped this issue thinking “it’s just an annual.”

It’s the big finale of a week of X-Men ResurrXion announcements.
Marvel revealed X-Men Blue and X-Men Gold will be the two new flagship X-books launching in Spirng 2017.
After the ResurrXion teaser came news of ongoing titles Iceman, Jean Grey, Weapon, Cable and Generation X.
The Spring rebirth will follow dark times for the mutants. The Terrigen Cloud that creates new Inhumans is killing mutants. The fate of Cyclops and start of a genetic war is happening now in Death of X and will erupt in full-blown Inhumans vs. X-Men.
Iceman is getting his own solo comic book Marvel revealed via Twitter with a cover showing the X-Man’s 50 year history.
Iceman #1 was announced for Spring 2017 with the previously teased ResurrXion, which appears to be the follow-up event to Inhumans vs. X-Men.
This is the first new title announced with the mysterious ResurrXion banner.
This is the first ongoing title to star original X-Man Bobby Drake.
Two versions of Iceman exist in the Marvel Universe. Both came out of the closet during the Brian Michael Bendis run in which Beast brought the original five X-Men into the present.
Young Bobby from the past was “outed” by psychic Jean Grey. Bobby later confronted his older adult self about his lifetime in the closet. Iceman is now the most prominent LGBT Marvel character.
