After a year of fighing for survival against an extinction-level threat and the Inhumans, Xavier’s students are back to being super heroes for everyone.
Marvel revealed more information about the next stage for the Children of the Atom including new team leaders, returning X-Men, a classic character with a new code-name and old school villains.
Let’s go for the Gold first:
X-Men: Gold by writer Marc Guggenheim and artist Ardian Syaf welcomes Kitty Pryde back to Earth and to the mutants after her time in space with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Marvel revealed the team rosters and creative teams via IGN for the two flagship titles coming in April 2017.
X-Men: Gold by writer Marc Guggenheim and artist Ardian Syaf starring Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Old Man Logan, Rachel Grey and Kitty Pryde named as team leader. Pryde will be leaving the Guardians of the Galaxy to come home to lead her fellow mutants. It appears Storm is returning to her classic look from the Chris Claremont/Dave Cockrum/John Byrne era. ResurrXion marks a rebirth for the X-Men books in 2017. Marvel announced new titles starring Iceman, Jean Grey, Cable, Weapon X, Generation X and two flagship books: X-Men Gold, X-Men Blue.
If the news has your feeling nostalgic for more ’90’s excitement we’re with you. After all Blue and Gold teams were the stars of the first X-Men #1 by the legendary team of Chris Claremont and Jim Lee and Uncanny X-Men #281 by Claremont and Whilce Portacio.
If was the age of a new mutant genesis, Claremont brought all the long lost X-Men and their allies together and launched the first “second” X-Men book. Fans also welcome a new X-Factor (a government backed mutant team) by Peter David, New Mutants become X-Force and Excalibur by Claremont and Alan Davis merged X-Men and Marvel UK heroes into a new team. As the 1990’s continued Scott Lobdell joined and co-created Generation X. Cable, Bishop and Gambit scored solo books, Age of Apocalypse was born leading to the introduction of X-Man.

The Spring rebirth will follow dark times for the mutants. The Terrigen Cloud that creates new Inhumans is killing mutants. The fate of Cyclops and start of a genetic war is happening now in Death of X and will erupt in full-blown Inhumans vs. X-Men.
