Paul Cornell and Alan Davis launch a brand new Wolverine #1 this week meaning new ways to punish the fan favorite hero.

Logan has been burned down to his skeleton, ripped apart and mutilated over and over in the past. The X-Man’s mutant healing factor has inspired writers to dream up some bizarre acts of violence. I wanted so share some of Cornell’s Marvel.com interview in which the writer aims to make the un-killable hero “vulnerable in other ways: human ways, emotional ways.”

As I said before Wolverine has been put through the ringer because of his healing factor but Cornell says not to expect Continue reading Testing Wolverine’s Powers

X-Man, Avenger, Mentor, Headmaster, Lover, Killer…Man of the People?

Wolverine is a man with many titles and star of many comic book titles! The new volume of Wolverine kicks off this week by Paul Cornell and the legendary Alan Davis. This is Cornell’s return to the House of Ideas and he talked with Marvel.com about his take on the fan favorite X-Man.

“This is the series that gets into what makes James Logan tick, that shows him Continue reading WOLVERINE Man of the People?

Paul Cornell comes back to Marvel in a big way! Cornell and legendary artist Alan Davis launch a brand new Wolverine #1.

Logan is an X-Man, Avenger, Headmaster. For his reputation as a loner the hero may actually be a super “people” person.

How will Wolverine’s friends and allies play roles in the series

“He likes people. He’s actually a very strange creature. He chooses to keep himself grounded and involved with human beings, to be both an effectively immortal mutant with additional military implants, and this guy who likes bars and beer,” Cornell tells Marvel.com,

I think [he sees] them as fellow professionals, people who do the same job he does. “Hero” would be a difficult word for most of them. He takes responsibility, I think, and he likes the company of others who do the same, particularly Continue reading WOLVERINE and His Avenging Friends!

Paul Cornell and Alan Davis will launch a brand new Wolverine series next month. Logan’s adventures have taken him around the world, into space and across timestreams but Cornell tells Marvel.com he will keep the X-Man grounded in the new series.

“I like him at street level, but the rather startling guest star that shows up at the end of issue #2 should indicate we’ve got our eye on the wider Marvel Universe too.  Street is an interesting place for him to be, because it’s not quite the default, which is surely forest. We’re aiming for a title which actually does introduce him to new readers, while touching only very lightly on his history for those Continue reading WOLVERINE of the Streets

The X-Man’s mutant healing factor has inspired writers to dream up some bizarre punishment on Logan. Comic Book & Sci Fi Movies of 2013

Will the OSCARS celebrate sci-fi, comic book or horror ever again? Avatar was the most recent sci-fi film to be nominated for an Academy Award. Looper should have a contender at least for screenplay. Oscar buzz inspired this list of my most anticipated genre movies in 2013. These flicks have not receive Oscars but could be next year’s Geek Oscar contenders:

#10 Sin City: A Dame To Kill For Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller take us back to the notorious haven of crime, corruption and women with dangerous curves! Eva Green as Ava, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Josh Brolin join the hard-core citzens of Basin City! October 29.

#9 Oblivion Tom Cruise is a repairman of the future who finds a clan of humans (led by Morgan Freeman) on what’s supposed to be a scorched Earth! This new film from director Joseph Kosinski looks action packed and thought-provoking. April 19.

#8 Kick-Ass 2 Sadistic, satirical and twisted! More “real” superheroics from the mind of Mark Millar. Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars and Stripes is among the new citizen heroes that follows Kick-Ass’s crusade but the Red Mist is plotting vengeance against the vigilantes! June 28.

#7 World War Z I absolutely love the book by Max Brooks. I already know the film is very different from the novel. It really should have been a cable series like the Band of Brothers of zombies. I choose to believe in the Pitt…Brad Pitt! June 21.

#6 Pacific Rim Guillerno del Toro. Giant Robots. Giant Monsters. They had me with del Toro and giant anything! July 12.

#5 Thor: The Dark World Chris Hemsworth portrays the Odinson again as Thor returns to Asgard! Malekitch (Christopher Eccleston of Doctor Who fame) leads the Dark Elves and the powerhouse Kurse! Will Loki be forgiven of his crimes in The Avengers? This cosmic clash is sure to be action packed and could include more of the Shakespearean family drama as Loki could find a shot at redemption. November 8.

#4 Iron Man 3 Even after The Avengers I still believe fans want to see Robert Downey, Jr solo. Tony Stark’s world is obliterated by his arch-enemy. This third film unleashes the Mandarin (Oscar winner Ben Kingsley) and introduces the threat of Extremis and the Iron Patriot armor. The trailer is dark but I’m excited to see Shane Black direct a great performance out of Downey as a dethroned Tony fights his way back. May 3.

#3 The Wolverine I believe this is the movie that will be the definitive Wolverine story! The X-Man will faces an army of ninjas, the Silver Samurai and the woman who will change his life. Based on the classic series by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller and directed by James Mangold – this could be Continue reading Comic Book & Sci Fi Movies of 2013
