Captain America, Namor, the original Human Torch and Bucky Barnes won’t be taking on the Third Reich and Hydra this time. As Robinson tells Marvel.com the new Invaders will tackle the Kree.
“I wanted a book that put the team very much in the present and in the heart of the Marvel Universe. The Kree fascinate me. They’re everywhere, wrapped up in everything to do with the Marvel Universe, so having that being the first threat where ultimately the team has to invade the Kree homeworld, felt like something fresh that I hadn’t seen before.” Continue reading All-New INVADERS James Robinson Preview

Scarlett Johannson will have a major role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Black Widow was introduced in Iron Man 2, kicked butt in Marvel’s The Avengers and will now join the action in the Cap sequel! Writer Christopher Markus told Collider how the SHIELD operative makes a foil for Steve Rogers:
Anthony Mackie hits the big screen in Pain & Gain this week but comic book fans are thrilled to see how the actor will look as Falcon in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Mackie was approached by Marvel to play Sam Wilson (aka Falcon) who has served as an Avenger, SHIELD agent and most importantly, the partner and best friend of Steve Rogers.
Mackie tells Collider how joining the blockbuster Marvel Cinematic Universe could impact his career.
“I mean, you know, you do the Marvel movies to garner you the ability to do the movies that you really want to do – the other movies, the smaller movies, you know. So it depends on what exactly you want to do. You know, doing a movie like Captain America – that puts your name in the mouth of everyone in this country and in the living room of everybody so, you know, once that comes out then you can go to the studio and tell them the kind of movie you really want to do.”
Mackie was in great shape for his breakthrough role in The Hurt Locker and got bulked up for Pain & Gain but now he’s getting into superhero shape.
Winter Soldier has been cancelled. The title was missing from Marvel’s July previews. Writer Jason Latour confirmed the book ends with issue 19.
“Well, I won’t lie, after spending the last 9 months or so living in Bucky Barnes’s skin, I’m a little heart broken,” he wrote on his blog. “He’s grown to be a very special character to me, maybe my favorite Marvel character ever, and I felt I could’ve written his story for years. The opportunity to do so came at a very trying time in my life and really helped me through some tough stuff, so in it’s way it’s very personal work. I hope that shows. That said though, really, enough cryin’ in my beer. I’m VERY grateful to everyone involved with the book all along the line for making it such a worthwhile experience.”
LaTour thanked artist Nic Klein and editor Lauren Sankaovitch.
