Just when you thought the architects of Batman Eternal couldn’t shock you any more…they deliver another huge twist in the next to last chapter of the year-long weekly series.

The mystery villain of Batman Eternal revealed himself to Bruce Wayne in issue 50 and we thought this week’s chapter was how he pulled it off.

But Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV revealed an even bigger villain involved as we head into the grand finale.

BATMAN ETERNAL MYSTERY VILLAIN REVEALED

Batman Eternal #50 arrived this week with a huge payoff that will either have you exclaiming “say what!?” or “brilliant!”

We knew the ending of their massive weekly series in this first issue: Bruce defeated, tied to the Bat signal while Gotham City burned around him.

Who could so completely, methodically and cruelly defeat the Dark Knight like this?

Did we see the future of Batman family in Detective Comics #40 and this week’s Detective Comics: Endgame #1?

This one-shot may be more than an intense tie-in to the Joker’s current reign of terror in Batman: Endgame.

If you caught this tale of teens taking action in a Jokerized infected Gotham City you may have seen some of the cast of We Are Robin. – the upcoming new book by Lee Bermejo and Khary Randolph.
