Marvel’s first Native American hero will star in a new book. Red Wolf returned in the 1872 Secret Wars tie-in title and will star in a new ongoing by Nathan Edmondson in December.

It’s the first new book to be headlined by a Native American in a long time but Marvel has a history of compelling Native American heroes.

Here are six heroes inspired by Red Wolf’s comeback who could return to the Marvel main stage:

Let’s start with the X-Men family since X has always marked diversity in comics. Continue reading RED WOLF Inspired Heroes For Your Consideration

NEW MUTANTS In X-MEN APOCALYPSE? For Your Consideration

X-Men: Days of Future Past introduced two new mutants from the New Mutants era to the cinematic Children of the Atom. With the news that X-Men: Apocalypse will be set in 1983 I couldn’t help but think of popular mutants born in the 80’s.

In Days of Future Past, Sunspot (Adan Canto) got to use his solar energy powers against the Sentinels. Producers chose to amp the Brazilian mutant’s power beyond just super strength. Roberto Da Costa could fly and blast heat at the relentless robots. Sunspot was one of the founding members of the New Mutants.

Warpath (Boo Boo Stewart) used his tracking ability, super strength and fighting skills with big — knives against the Sentinels. Warpath actually started out as a Hellion (a student of Emma Frost and the Hellfire Club.) James Proudstar blamed Professor X for his older brother’s death and joined the Hellions in his quest for revenge by taking his brother’s X-Men code-name Thunderbird. James would later reform and join Cable’s original X-Force then become an official X-Man.

Could more third and fourth generation X-Men join the next sequel in the fight against Apocalypse? Continue reading NEW MUTANTS In X-MEN APOCALYPSE? For Your Consideration

Big guns, muscles and pouches plus, bigger guns? It must be the 1990’s.

If seeing Warpath and Sunspot in X-Men: Days of Future Past makes you nostalgic for the good old X-Force days then hold on.

Warpath, along with Cable, Cannonball, Boom Boom and Domino are back to take on the Merc With a Mouth in a brand new limited series that brings back the original X-Force.

Marvel shared a preview of Deadpool vs. X-Force #1 by writer Duane Swierczynski (Cable) and artist Pepe Larraz (Wolverine and the X-Men) with covers by Shane Davis. Continue reading DEADPOOL VS. X-FORCE Preview

Ellen Page introduced an exciting clip from X-Men: Days of Future Past at the MTV Movie Awards.

In the future mutant hunting robots attack. Kitty Pryde (Page) Colossus (Daniel Cudmore) and Iceman (Shawn Ashmore) lead brand new mutants Blink, Warpath, Bishop and Sunspot defending their embattled base from a swarm of Sentinels. Fans of Bobby Drake have to be thrilled to see Iceman at his full omega level potential. Blink is a fan favorite mutant from the Generation X era who died too soon but is alive and shows off her incredible teleporting power. Sunspot (Adan Canto) and Bishop (Omar Sy) share their solar projection and energy absorption powers on the invading Sentinels.

X-MEN Children of Diversity!

Are you still recovering from the first trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past. The Bryan Singer directed film unites the casts of First Class and the original X- trilogy. The trailer was exciting, emotional and shows why X-Men are still the best representation of diversity in comics.

What a thrill to see Bishop, Warpath, Sunspot and Blink join the cinematic cast of X-Men. The Children of the Atom represent diversity and overcoming differences. These heroes don’t just fight bad guys. They fight discrimination and intolerance.

When Stan Lee created X-Men #1 his young heroes had powers because of genetics. You could say Continue reading X-MEN Children of Diversity!
