Superstar Team for New Superman Book

Superman by Jim Lee courtesy DC Comics

2013 is Superman’s 75th Anniversary and fans have reason to celebrate. The Man of Steel by Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan will hit the big screen. Scott Snyder and Jim Lee will team up to launch a brand new Superman book.

“As a huge fan of Scott’s writing, I’m looking forward to drawing Superman as much as I am reading Scott’s story as it unfolds,” Lee told The Source, “Scott’s crafted a truly epic yet personal story which will demonstrate without a doubt why Superman remains the most iconic hero of the modern age. 2013 is gonna absolutely rock!”

“I’ve loved Superman since I was a kid, and to be working on him now, with the great Jim Lee, is simply too thrilling for words. It’s a dream come true for me on every front,” said Snyder . “I don’t want to give too much away, so I’ll just say it’s the Superman story I’d write if I only ever got one chance to write the character. It’s an exploration of everything I love and am fascinated by about him. Like Court of Owls for Batman, it’s a character piece for Clark – it’s going to challenge him to his core. And it’s definitely epic in scope, with huge action and drama – the biggest and most earth-shaking action I’ve ever done. Can’t wait to see what you all think of it. Couldn’t be more grateful or excited to get the chance to make this one!”

Henry Cavill on the set of The Man of Steel

Two new possible roles for leading men of the comic book/sci-fi genres:

The new Superman is working on his next big role – it’s with one of my favorite directors. Henry Cavill (The Man of Steel) is in talks to join The Great Wall for Edward Zwick according to Variety. Zach Snyder’s Superman Compared to Nolan’s Batman

Henry Cavill on the set of The Man of Steel

Huge praise for The Man of Steel Director and leading man from the actor who gets to ooze Kryptonian evil on-screen. Michael Shannon plays General Zod in the new Superman film. In an interview with The Playlist the actor compared Zach Snyder to Martin Scorsese, saying Snyder’s reboot is “edgy in a way like when Nolan took over the Batman franchise.”

“Henry [Cavill] is a fantastic Superman, he’s got a little edge to him and he’s smart, clever and I had fun working with him,” Shannon added. “I think Zack is the master stylist, visually, I mean he’s up there with Scorsese in my book in terms of visual composition, orchestration, etc.”

A huge compliment sure to heighten already huge expectations.

The Man of Steel Gives a Super Thanks to the Military

Henry Cavill at Edwards A.F.B.

The new Superman took a break from shooting to meet, pose and sign autographs for U.S Airmen at Edwards A.F.B. More than 100 airmen lined up to meet Henry Cavill, receive a Man of Steel lithograph, and have the opportunity to take a photo with the star of The Man of Steel.

“I have such great respect for military members and what they do,” Cavill said . “It’s important that they know how valuable their service is. It is a pleasure to tell them how much they’re appreciated.”

Cavill has a strong connection to the military with two brothers currently serving; one is a tank commander and the other as a Royal Marine.

This was also a way to thank the airmen for their roles as extras or logistical support. For the entire article here’s the link to Edwards A.F.B.

Thanks to the men and women for serving our country.
