Here’s a first look at Dustin Weaver’s art for Infinity #2 from Marvel. Writer Jonathan Hickman is joined by Jim Cheung, Weaver and Avengers World artist Jerome Opena on the epic clash between Earth’s Mightiest Heroes vs. Thanos and the mysterious Builders.

I’m a huge fan of Hickman and Weaver’s SHIELD series so it’s a thrill to see them work together again. The Hickman/Weaver SHIELD series is not about Nick Fury and super spies but rather Leonardo Da Vinci, Galileo, Howard Stark and other super brains in a history twisting epic. Thanos wants something hidden on Earth. The Builders want to destroy and remake Earth. The Avengers face an impossible war in space and on the homeworld. I love the big space operas but they don’t always work so I wanted to share part of this story on how Jonathan Hickman’s series will compare.

Infinity is the latest in long line of Marvel sci-fi space epics like the Kree-Skrull War, Operation Galactic Storm, The Infinity Gauntlet and more. Executive Editor Tom Brevoort tells Marvel.com how this new limited series compares to previous space sagas:

INFINITY week is finally here!

When Jonathan Hickman took over Avengers he assembled a bigger roster of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes!  It may not be enough!

It’s a war on two fronts when alien invaders set a collision course for Earth and Thanos launches a sneak attack on the planet, too.

Infinity#1  by Hickman and artist Jim Cheung arrives this week. Earth’s heroes face a double threat from The Builders and Thanos in this six-part epic.
