Star Wars Television Series to Feature Time Bandits?

Manipulating the past has been a theme in several Star Trek episodes and the Borg Queen’s strategy in Star Trek: First Contact.  Cable, Bishop and Rachel Summers have traveled into the past to change the future in the X-Men comics.

Is the new Star Wars: Underworld television series taking a cue from other franchises and doing a time warp of their own? As previously reported producer Rick McCallum says scripts are written but the project is shelved for now due to budgetary reasons.

WARNING!!!

POSSIBLE SPOILER!!!

YOU MAY NOT WANT TO KNOW THIS CONCEPT!!!

OK HERE IT COMES….

According to a new but untested Ain’t It Cool News source, Underworld will “involve bandits acquiring the capability of time travel, and using it to travel back in time to stop Darth Vader from ever existing.”

Again this is just a rumor but it generates some interesting possibilities and ramifications for the entire series. I can imagine future rebel Jedi versus Qui-Gonn and Obi-Wan. Thanks to Spinoff Online for the story.

Can a poster make you forget Jar Jar?

Lucasfilm released 5 posters for Star Wars: The Phantom Menace 3D which is coming to theaters February 10th.

This one is my favorite: Darth Maul, your on-screen time was all too brief!

Thanks to Movieweb for capturing all the Force coming at you in 3D posters.

Star Wars: Televison Series Update

The Force behind the Star Wars television series reveals new details. Star Wars: Underworld is the working title of the proposed Star Wars television series according to producer Rick McCallum during an interview with IGN.

McCallum says 50 scripts are ready and awaiting a “economical sound way” to be produced. The scripts are called “timeless” and follow the darker period between Episodes III and IV.

McCallum helped developed the Stars Wars prequels, Clone Wars animated series

What If James Bond Worked for Darth Vader?

“The name is Cross…Jahan Cross.”

Star Wars: Agent of the Empire #1 cover courtesy Dark Horse Comics

Star Wars: Agent of the Empire – Iron Eclipse debuts this week from Dark Horse Comics. The hero is a secret agent working for the Empire 3 years before the events of A New Hope tracking down stolen droid technology.

This new series is the latest from comics veteran John Ostrander. He’s created action tales from various time periods in the Star Wars universe and tells USA Today  that Agent Cross’s mission will have him encounter smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca before they became Rebel Alliance heroes.

Ostrander says Cross is influenced by Jason Bourne and John Le Carre spy novels .

“Still, there’s a lot of overlap in the Bond and Star Wars franchises: charismatic lead character, beautiful women, exotic locales, large-scale villains, intense action, chases, technology and gadgets. It’s like peanut-butter cups: two great tastes that go great together.”

I think the challenge will be making a hero out of an agent working for “the bad guys” but Ostrander’s writing is outstanding. This could be a new way to see the Star Wars canon from an Empire insider.

Star Trek Star Wars Truce from Sulu

The man who played Sulu is acting like Ambassador Sarek with a hilarious twist. The “war” between William Shater and Carrie Fisher over Star Trek Versus Star Wars could be over. Takei urges all sci-fi fans unite to hate “Twilight.”

George Takei attempts to offer “Star Peace” by sacrificing vamps and werewolves saying “the new ominous threat to science fiction” is “Twilight” he told MSN.  Click to see Ambassador Takei’s plea for “Star Peace!”

STAR WARS Comics

Star Wars: Art: Comics courtesy Abrams Books  Star Wars was the first movie I saw in a movie theater. I’ve never been the same since! Maybe that’s why I can forgive George Lucas for anyway he wants to evolve his movies. I had the landspeeder, droid factory, an army of action figures and comic books!

Marvel Comics published the first Star Wars comics then Dark Horse Comics was the force behind new series set before, during and after the 6 movie chapters. There’s a beautiful new book I’ve been tempted to buy for myself (it would make a great gift) from Abrams Books.

Star Wars cover art from Marvel Comics

Star Wars: Art: Comics celebrates the marriage of the beloved film franchise and the graphic art of comics. Inside you’ll find comic strips and book art from previous series and new commissions from some of the biggest names in the industry. All the art was selected and curated by George Lucas who gave Comic Book Resources this preview, which includes interviews with the artists on the new commissions about their Star Wars inspirations.

From Star Wars: Art: Comics by Arthur Adams, courtesy Abrams Books

I wanted to share one of the most eye-catching selections by one of my all time favorite creators. Arthur Adams (one of my favorite X-Men artists) knows how to draw hot babes and ugly monsters so it’s fitting Adams brings Leia’s metal bikini wearing hotness and Jabba the Hutt’s throne room to graphic life.
