New Comics Picks To Be Thankful For This Week

As we head into the Thanksgiving Day weekend we have a heavy serving of new comic books including number one issues and big conclusions. We may need our families and friends after at least one or more favorite heroes is no more.

Death of X #1

The first battle in what will be the Inhumans vs. X-Men war. What does Cyclops do to save the mutant race…that kills him? Does another fan-favorite X-Man die in the attack that triggers genetic war? New DC REBIRTH Comics for June 8, 2016

The iconic books the launched the Dark Knight and Man of Steel go in bold new directions while three iconic heroes get new beginnings as DC Comics Rebirth continues.

It’s a week so big we had to have a two sets of new comics picks of the week featuring an all DC edition of picks starting with Rise of the Batmen.

Detective Comics #934

The Dark Knight and Batwoman together. Bruce Wayne and Kate Kane lead the next generation of heroes (Cassandra Cain, Stephanie Brown, Tim Drake and Clayface?) as a mystery predator is outdoing Batman.

Batman Eternal #50 arrived this week with a huge payoff that will either have you exclaiming “say what!?” or “brilliant!”

We knew the ending of their massive weekly series in this first issue: Bruce defeated, tied to the Bat signal while Gotham City burned around him.

Who could so completely, methodically and cruelly defeat the Dark Knight like this?

The mastermind was in the early issues all along.

Batgirl/Babs Tarr Barbara Gordon received more than a change of costume and address in 2014. Breakout artist Babs Tarr, writers Cameron Stewart and Brenden Fletcher gave Barbara a modern edge and fans loved it. Batman #28 showed us the future of Gotham City with Selina Kyle as the ruler of the criminal underworld, a medical crisis affecting the city, Harper Row as a costumed crimefighter and Stephanie Brown as the Spoiler.

 

In the DC Comics September previews for the weekly series it looks like we’re getting closer to that near future – especially with this shot of Stephanie Brown in costume as the Spoiler.
