I like to call it the smaller Seattle con with a big heart for comics! The Jet City Comic Show is returning for its third year in on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall.

“We’re proud of the fan feedback that we received last year and feel we’ve put together an even better show this year,” says co-founder James Taylor. “Jet City Comics Show is a fan friendly event, a chance for attendees to have fun, be entertained, browse through comics and discover some fantastic artists and writers.”

Secret Avengers artist Gabriel Hardman, Chris Roberson (writer: iZombie and Cinderella) and Dave Roman (creator: Astronaut Academy: Zero Gravity) are featured comic book creators.

The Northwest is a hotbed and home of many comic book creators. The show will feature local writers and artists, including:

Brom – World Renowned Fantasy Artist
Amy Brown – Fantasy & Fairy Artist
Matthew Clark – Ghost Rider, Spider-Man
Colleen Coover – Bandette, Gingerbread Girl
Emi Lenox – Emitown

Original Story: Star Trek, NASA and Ballet? Only in Seattle – I love this geeky cool town I proudly call home!

Nichelle Nichols (Lt. Uhura) and Curiosity Mars rover flight director Bobak Ferdowski aka “Mohawk Guy” are special guests at a futuristic space extravaganza with dance, music, video and song.

Celebrate Seattle is September 16th at Pacific Northwest Ballet celebrating PNB’s 40th Anniversary and the 50th Anniversary of the Seattle World’s Fair – when the Space Needle and Seattle aimed for the stars and ushered in the Space Age!

The Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra takes the spotlight with dancers, video flashbacks, and special guest appearances for a double anniversary salute to PNB, the Seattle World’s Fair, and NASA’s race to outer space.

  This one-of-a-kind performance includes:

  • PNB Orchestra performances of Silvestre’s Back to the Future, Holst’s Saturn & Jupiter, Dvorak’s Song to the Moon & selections from Beethoven’s Symphony no. 9 and Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite
  • Apollo pas de deux  and Circus Polka starring Artistic Director Peter Boal as the Ringmaster
  • Astronaut Cady Coleman
  • NASA’s Mars Curiosity landing film
  • Star Trek’s Nichelle Nichols, introduced by June Lockhart of Lost in Space
  • Curiosity Mars rover flight director Bobak Ferdowsi (aka “Mohawk Guy”)
  • Video histories of  Pacific Northwest Ballet and the building of the Seattle World’s Fair
  • Angry Birds at the Seattle Center

I’ll be there celebrating the past, present and future and cheering for science fiction, fact and this unique culture combination! To learn more and for tickets visit pnb.org.

Some Seattle creative minds created this salute to Bobak and the Mars Curiosity team and here’s the link to see it.

“We’re NASA and We Know It” Seattle Spoof Goes Viral

“We’re NASA and We Know It” is a video from a Seattle crew that celebrates the men and women behinds of Mars hopes and dreams and parodies LMFAO’s “Sexy and I Know It.”

David and Steve Hudson of cinesauraus.com are actors, editors and special effects gurus of this hilarious spoof.

Great comic book shops, creators and cons plus all the computer and space geeks and these creatives – got to love Seattle!

Thanks to Geekwire for making my day! I needed this! I have a former Boeing buddy whose new employer in Seattle helped make part of the Curiosity.
