Fans of The Hunger Games can feast their eyes on costumes worn by “The Girl On Fire” and other characters from hit movie based on the best-selling novel! An amazing collection of genuine costumes will be exhibited at the upcoming Emerald City Comicon taking place on March 1st – 3rd, 2013 at the Washington State Convention Center. This rare display of Hollywood history will be on display all three days!
The exhibit features original screen-worn costumes worn by Jennifer Lawrence as “Katniss,” Josh Hutcherson as “Peeta,” Elizabeth Banks as “Effie,” Stanley Tucci as “Caesar,” Liam Hemsworth as “Gale,” Woody Harrelson as “Haymitch,” Lenny Kravtiz as “Cinna,” Donald Sutherland as “President Snow,” Wes Bentley as “Seneca,” and many more!
The costumes are all set to be auctioned off in October but will be making a few appearances around the country first to give the public a chance to preview the items. Cities for the costume exhibit include Hollywood, Chicago, New York and Seattle.
Almost a year ago thousands of local fans gathered and screamed for Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth on The Hunger Games Tour. Here’s a link to my interviews with those stars.
Watch out Krypto! You may be a super dog but Seattle’s cutest Corgis strutted their stuff to celebrate Halloween in Seattle.
Here’s one of my favorite shots by Josh Lewis of the Corgi Costume Walk around Seattle’s Green Lake! This Corgi is sporting Steampunk style goggles – maybe he’s ready to join Snoopy in the air searching for the Red Baron?
I’m obsessed with sharks so I really loved this unique look!
Terry Moore – Huge thanks to my comic book reading club member Susan to turning me on to Moore’s Rachel Rising. The creator/writer/artist is also acclaimed for Echo and Strangers in Paradise.
Clay Mann is coming back next year. The former X-Men: Legacy artist is now drawing the Gambit solo series. I have a spectacular print of Rogue and Gambit embracing – as they should – sorry Magneto.
Aaron Lopresti (Justice League International, Green Arrow) is returning to Seattle.
Bob Layton – LEGEND! The classic Iron Man artist!
Emerald City Comicon is March 1-3, 2013 and this year they’re taking over the entire Washington State Convention Center.
I’m thrilled to share two big celebrity guest announcements for my hometown con!
Emerald City Comicon is bringing Kristin Bauer (Pam of True Blood) and Michael Shanks (Dr. Daniel Jackson of Stargate SG-1) to next year’s big event!
Bauer was recently cast as Maleficent on Once Upon a Time. I had the privilege of meeting her this year as Fan Expo Vancouver. She is even more gorgeous in person!
Both stars will be appearing Saturday and Sunday. Emerald City Comicon is March 1-3, 2013 in Seattle.
Jet City Comic Show is a back to basics one day of comics and costumes in Seattle.
It was a reunion with my favorite X-Men couple (Seattle’s own Kitty Pryde and Colossus.) Since I last saw this costumed couple at Emerald City Comicon the cosplay couple has added some fine touches.
Kitty is now sporting Lockheed the dragon and Peter is has an optic option to give him the complete organic steel look!
The Jet City Comic Show returns for its third year this Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall.
“We’re proud of the fan feedback that we received last year and feel we’ve put together an even better show this year,” says co-founder James Taylor.
“Jet City Comics Show is a fan friendly event, a chance for attendees to have fun, be entertained, browse through comics and discover some fantastic artists and writers.”
Secret Avengers artist Gabriel Hardman, Chris Roberson (writer: iZombie and Cinderella) and Dave Roman (creator: Astronaut Academy: Zero Gravity) are featured comic book creators.
The Northwest is a hotbed and home of many comic book creators. The show will feature local writers and artists, including:
Brom – World Renowned Fantasy Artist
Amy Brown – Fantasy & Fairy Artist
Matthew Clark – Ghost Rider, Spider-Man
Colleen Coover – Bandette, Gingerbread Girl
Emi Lenox – Emitown
Michel Gagné – Renowned Animator, Creator of Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet
Natalie Nourigat – Between Gears, My Boyfriend is a Monster: Wrapped Up in You
Paul Tobin – Bandette, Marvel Adventures
“Jet City Comic Con….It’s about comics.” says artist Matthew Clark. “The fans are great I love these types of shows. I want to help this show out and I plan to be here every year if they’ll have me. I have fun here and that’s what makes it awesome”
Jet City will feature two costume contests, a Steampunk contest organized by SteamCon. The other will be a traditional superhero / scifi costume contest run by the D20 Girls Project who aim’s to promote women in gaming and comics.
The comic book community always gives back. The show will also be working with local charitable organization Ronald McDonald House.
If you love comics but have never attended a show then this is a perfect one to try out. Jet City Comics Show takes place this Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 10 am to 6 pm at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall, 299 Mercer St., Seattle, WA. For more information visit www.jetcitycomicshow.com.
Tickets can be purchased online at Brown Paper Tickets or at any of the following retailers (a great way to support your local comic shop!)
The first 200 at the doors will receive a free print by special guest Gabriel Hardman.
Artist Charlie Adlard (The Walking Dead) and Writer/Artist Tony Daniel (Batman, Detective Comics) will appear at the 2013 Emerald City Comicon. This will be Daniel’s first appearance at the Seattle event. I had the pleasure of interviewing Daniel at Fan Expo Vancouver earlier this year.
Adi Granov returns to Emerald City Comicon. The Iron Man movie concept artist and co-creator of Iron Man Extremis provided the cover for the Monsters & Dames charity book this year. I’m thrilled to see what Granov will create for next year. I have to get this Uncanny Avengers Granov variant for him to sign! Fingers crossed.
Natalia Tena (Harry Potter films, Game of Thrones) is the latest celebrity guest (Patrick Stewart, Billy Dee Williams, Walter Koenig) to join the 2013 ECCC lineup.
I met the director and star of YouTube sensation “We’re NASA and We Know It.” The video from this Seattle celebrates the men and women behind of Mars hopes and dreams and parodies LMFAO’s “Sexy and I Know It.”
David and Steve Hudson of cinesauraus.com are actors, editors and special effects gurus of this hilarious spoof. They tell me they are working on a new project now and have a video appearing in this weekend’s Celebrate Seattle event starring NASA’s real Mohawk guy and Star Trek legend Nichelle Nichols!
Great comic book shops, creators and cons plus all the computer and space geeks and these creatives – got to love Seattle!
Thanks to Geekwire for making my day! I needed this! I have a former Boeing buddy whose new employer in Seattle helped make part of the Curiosity.
