One of the most anticipated comic book issues on the horizon is Detective Comics #27. The mega-size book celebrates the 75th Anniversary of Batman – just part of DC Comics plans for the Dark Knight.

Batman debuted in Detective Comics #27 and in The New 52 27th issue – an all-star roster of creators contribute stories about the Dark Knight.

Batman writer Scott Snyder and Sean Murphy, his artist on The Wake, weave a future story of Bruce Wayne and a new Robin.  Murphy recently shared his design for the African-American sidekick Continue reading Batman’s Future Robin in DETECTIVE COMICS

Halloween Comic Book Horror: The Wake

The most frightening horror stories play upon primal fears or fairy tales from hell. As we approach Halloween I’m sharing some scary comic book tales you should try and here’s why you should dive into The Wake by writer Scott Snyder (Batman) and artist Sean Murphy. This is one of my favorite new series of 2013.

The creators of this Vertigo book spared the tights and turned up the creep factor! No superheroes here. This is the kind of graphic storytelling you share with non-comic book fans to demonstrate why you love the medium. It’s a tense tale worthy of The X-Files or Torchwood.

After a brief glimpse at a post-Apocalyptic future the story turns to Gig Harbor, Washington where Continue reading Halloween Comic Book Horror: The Wake

The most terrifying, edge of your seat sci-fi horror movie in years…is at your local comic book shop!

The Wake #4 just arrived and it’s the most intense chapter of Scott Snyder and Sean Murphy’s gripping thriller yet.

Scientists are called to a covert underwater oil rig to investigate an ancient life form. Mermaid from hell? Creature from the Black Lagoon on acid?

What’s more dangerous than one of these ravenous mer-monsters on the loose in a sinking underwater rig? Continue reading The Wake #4 Review

Avengers #20 The aftermath of last week’s blockbuster Infinity #3! Who will surrender or die fighting? Jonathan Hickman has created the creepiest aliens in the Ex Nihilos. (Think Hannibal Lecter, Alex from A Clockwork Orange, Evil from Time Bandits and whatever Tim Curry was in Legend!) I’m excited to see what happens when rival Ex Niholos on opposite sides of the war come face to face!

Batman The Dark Knight #3.1 Joker’s Daughter One of the most anticipated Villains Month issues! Arkham Asylum is broken and inmates are flooding to Joker’s Daughter. Continue reading Top Comic Book Picks for September 25, 2013

BATMAN #23 Review

Batman #23 is the best chapter yet in Zero Year as we experience the moment Bruce becomes the Bat.

You think you the story of Batman but Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo are making the origin exciting, gripping and new.

We jump right into a violent confrontation between Bruce and the Red Hood Gang. Snyder and Capullo messed with Bruce with cruel, creepy, manipulative methods through the Court of Owls and Joker in their previous arcs. The Red Hood Gang leader sadistically beats Bruce physically and emotionally as he shares the twisted connection between them and the night his parents were murdered. Continue reading BATMAN #23 Review
