The countdown is on for the finale of Doctor Who Season Seven! River Song (Alex Kingston) returns. The villain from Christmas episode, The Snowmen (Richard E. Grant) is back. The mystery of Clara revealed? The real name of the Doctor revealed!?!

Take a look at the BBC trailer for The Name of the Doctor:

Who is the Impossible Girl? What if Clara was Romana regenerated? Romana was a young Time Lord who assisted the Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) during the Key to Time epic. Romana was played by Mary Tamm then Lalla Ward.

In the finale of the E-Space trilogy, Romana and the robot dog K-9 stayed in the parallel universe rather than return to Gallifrey. There have been conflicting reports but no official on-screen revelation about Romana dying in the Great Time War.

But the big question…do you want to know the Doctor’s real name?

The Doctor Says Goodbye to Amy and Rory

Matt Smith as The Doctor courtesy BBC America

Doctor Who will be a getting a new traveling companion soon. The journey is coming to an end for Amy Pond and her husband Rory.  Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill are leaving the show after next season. Executive Producer Steven Moffat hinted that their daughter River Song (Alex Kingston) may be back before their exit.

The Matt Smith Doctor Who seasons have been the “Doctor and Amy” era. I think Amy (from her childhood to marraige to baby) is the most personally intertwined to the Time Lord than any other companion. Amy’s narration even became part of the open of the series. Amy and Rory were the first married couple to travel with the Doctor. I knew it was coming. Companions come and go. It will be bittersweet to see the couple leave. Here’s hoping they have a happy ending.

Thanks to TV Line for the confirmation.
