The episode of Gotham before The Fall Finale was packed with blood, sweat and fears as mad monks began to “cleanse” Gotham City.

The Rise of the Villains reached a brutal peak and sets the stage for a thrilling showdown.

The big mystery of Gotham Season Two is the endgame of Theo Galavan. Early clues made fans suspect the Galavans were from the Court of Owls but as the series continued we saw the arrival of mad monks, a bloody crusade and revenge decades in the scheming.

Plus, producers have thrilling fun with name dropping a little known Batman character that builds to a payoff for Bruce…but it doesn’t last as the big bad corners him.

The Rise of the Villains continues on Gotham.

The surge of mad energy from Cameron Monaghan as Jerome Valeska (aka he who might have been the Joker) is over – sigh – but the evil is far from over.

Robin Lord Taylor is back front and center as the Penguin but it’s Theo Galavan (James Frain) still oozing with a sinister slow burn as he continues his long term plot.

Oswald Cobblepot isn’t safe from Galavan. The Penguin is perched atop the underworld but now he’s been tamed by a more dangerous bird of prey.

THE COURT OF OWLS on GOTHAM

The Rise of the Villains began on Gotham Season Two with Penguin as the underworld King but are Owls flocking to the Batman prequel series?

The Court of Owls is a shadowy organization co-created by Batman Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo which kicked off their fan-favorite New 52 run.

James Frain and Jessica Lucas plays the Galavans, a brother/sister villain team which could have deep ties into Gotham City’s history. The  introduction of the siblings made fans suspect the Owls might hold court on the series.
