Jeff Lemire packed a ton in his first Extraordinary X-Men arc. In five issues the Children of the Atom faced a new genetic threat, an old adversary and demons of Limbo as Storm assembled a new team, discovered the shocking truth about Cyclops and was guided (or haunted) by a ghost of the past.

Every issue so far left a ton of questions. This week’s thrilling finale of the first arc set the new status quo for the X-Men to the world with unmissable future story possibilities.

The Terrigen Mists are killing mutants. Cyclops attacked the Inhumans and now he’s dead. Storm assembled Magik, Colossus, Iceman, young Jean Grey and Old Man Logan to rescue mutants from the Terrigen threat. The search for Nightcrawler led to Mister Sinister and his new Marauders.

Sinister unveiled a shocker last issue but Lemire was only getting started with the shock and awe. The final fate of Cyke is not what we thought. Continue reading EXTRAORDINARY X-MEN CYCLOPS SHOCKER

MARVEL Teases DEAD NO MORE

“Dead No More” is the proclamation on Marvel’s Twitter feed today.

What could it mean?

Someone or something is dead no more according to this Marvel teaser.

This comes after the revelation that a major character will die in Civil War II and the day before Secret Wars #9 arrives tomorrow.

Tomorrow’s finale is the final battle with Doctor Doom on Battleworld that leads to the current All-New, All-Different Marvel Now reality set eight months after the conclusion. In Jonathan Hickman’s final chapter, Reed Richards, Namor and Black Panther are leading the fight against “God” Doom who created Battleworld in the remnants of Marvel’s dead multiverse.

In Civil War II by Brian Michael Bendis, Iron Man and Captain Marvel will lead opposite sides over a new character who can see crimes before they happen and how heroes should use this ability. A New York Daily News reporter got an exclusive look at the process at how editors and writers decided who to kill during one of the publisher’s famously secret creative editorial retreats. In the new Extraordinary X-Men by Jeff Lemire and Humberto Ramos, Storm is alone at the top as the mutant race faces a deadly new threat or is she?
