Prometheus Sequel Moving Ahead Without…

“Big things have small beginnings,” said the android David.

Big franchises must have big enough box-office!

Fox is moving ahead with a sequel to Ridley Scott’s Prometheus. Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender are signed up but the studio is talking to new writers according to The Hollywood Reporter. Damon Lindelof may not be available.

“Ridley is incredibly excited about the movie, but we have to get it right. We can’t rush it,” says Fox president of production Emma Watts. A Prometheus sequel would be released in 2014 or 2015.

Prometheus Inspires Avengers Casting Dream

Prometheus courtesy 20th Century Fox

After seeing Prometheus a second time I went back to a casting dream for a possible Avengers sequel. Seeing Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace together a second time made be think how perfect they would be as the Vision and the Scarlet Witch. This is just the musing of a geek – I have no knowledge and assume Fassbender would not want to play another android.

If you have the Vision then you must have Hank Pym, Janet Van Dyne and Ultron – who created the Vision.

I posted before how both actresses who played The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo could play Wanda on-screen in an X-Men: First Class (Rooney Mara)sequel or Avengers (Rapace) sequel.

Again – I have no power or knowledge and will probably enjoy what Marvel decides but it’s fun to dream and play casting director!

“Prometheus” Creature is “Every Woman’s Nightmare”

Secrets of Prometheus are unfolding like those slick eggs peeling away in Alien. The creature in the new film takes on four different forms as it grows and changes “organically” in what actress Noomi Rapace calls “every woman’s nightmare” according to an upcoming story in The Hollywood Reporter.

Do you remember seeing the international trailer? It featured a creature that reminded me of one of those things inside the belly of the monster in the asteroid on The Empire Strikes Back but a lot nastier.  What kind of cargo is that “Space Jockey” carrying?

New Prometheus Featurette Video “A Superior Species, No Doubt”

A new Prometheus featurette is burning up the geek net! The cast is praising Sir Ridley Scott and we hear from the acclaimed director himself on his return to science fiction. The look in Michael Fassbender’s eyes as David the android is fascinating and chilling as he appears to sit the pilot seat of the “Space Jockey” and discovers the starmap. We’ve seen the scene in the trailer before but in this featurette we see Noomi Rapace in the white bikini looking outfit before what looks like a nasty fate with an alien of some kind.

I particularly enjoyed David’s quote “a superior species, no doubt.”

Thanks to Screen Rant.

“Prometheus” Talking Empire Cover

Prometheus cover of Empire Magazine May 2012

Prometheus star Noomi Rapace is gracing the cover of the May issue of Empire Magazine. The cover proclaims Ridley Scott’s return to the Alien universe as “the movie of the year.”

The cover comes with its own special effects: Empire promotes that their holographic cover will shout “We were so wrong!” at you when you open it.

That’s the line from Dr. Elizabeth Shaw (Rapace) from the trailer which you can see again below:

Scarlet Witch Casting – A Geek’s Dream

Avengers Children's Crusade #7 by Jim Cheung courtesy Marvel.com

The actresses who played The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo have cast a spell on this comic book geek. I keep picturing both stars as Marvel’s tragic mutant heroine – Scarlet Witch aka Wanda Maximoff.

Noomi Rapace starred in the Swedish films based on the Millenium Trilogy. Rooney Mara is playing Lisabeth Salander is the American version directed by David Fincher opposite Daniel Craig.

Both actresses are stunning on-screen in appearance and their riveting performances.

An actress who can portray Lisabeth Salander could certainly play Magneto’s tragic daughter who became an Avenger. A fragile woman with such destructive power looming under the surface.

Rapace would be perfect as an adult Scarlet Witch in an Avengers sequel. The idea first came to me after seeing Rapace play a gypsy in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. Wanda and Pietro Maximoff were raised by a European gypsy family.

With news that Director Matthew Vaughn and the cast have signed on for a sequel to X-Men: First Class my thoughts turn to a younger Wanda – when she was in Magneto’s Brotherhood of Mutants. I can’t get the idea of Mara as a younger Wanda in an X-Men: First Class sequel. Producers would have to make Michael Fassbender appear older since he would be playing her father.

Fans’ feelings about the Scarlet Witch may change after the outcome of Avengers Versus X-Men. Wanda’s sons are trying to redeem her in Avengers: The Children’s Crusade but she could give in to her dark side and dark chaos magic again in AVX.

I’m a nerd possessed I admit it! Anything new about Ridley Scott’s Prometheus gives me excited chills!

USA Today posed a new photo in their Notable Films of 2012 feature. Star Noomi Rapace in what appears to be the “Space Jockey” ship from Alien.
