RETURN OF NIGHTCRAWLER! Yes, I’m excited about this!
Jason Aaron and Ed McGuinness launch Amazing X-Men this November. Wolverine, Storm, Iceman, Beast, Northstar and Firestar go in search of the real Kurt Wagner.
“We’ve planning this and keeping it a secret for a long time. You’re finally going to get the story of the Bamfs.” said X-Men Editor Nick Lowe.

I admit – I’m not a big fan of the supernatural themed X-Men stories. I’ve never been a fan of Magik. Illyana’s history is confusing and she’s just not likable. There’s nothing redeeming about the demon sorceress/mutant teleporter with an evil persona – see what I mean – confusing, huh?
Brian Michael Bendis and Frazier Irving have changed my mind about supernatural stories and Magik in just one perfect issue. Uncanny X-Men #7 is a beautifully written and drawn story of sacrifice, identity and cry for help. Every hero has demons but Illyana’s are literal. Can the X-Men kill the mutant who looks like a dead friend? The Age of Apocalypse Nightcrawler and Beast teamed up in X-Termination #1 to try and return to their dimension – even it means destroying our own!
Wolverine’s street team (Gambit, Karma, Iceman, Northstar) went into action but as worlds started to collide Dazzler’s X-Treme X-Men team joined the chaos.
X-Termination kicks off this week! Three X-Men teams. Three worlds. Three powerhouse writers. The universe is threatened and it will take X-Men from various timelines to save us and stop one of their own. The action begins in X-Termination #1 and rocks into Astonishing X-Men, Age of Apocalypse and X-Treme X-Men. Nightcrawler may be the spark that triggers the crossover but as you can see above the Dark Beast makes an evil comeback!

The X-Termination Event begins this week! Nightcrawler wants to go back to the Age of Apocalypse and he’ll destroy Earth to do it.
Teams starring in Astonishing X-Men, X-Treme X-Men and Age of Apocalypse clash in a major crossover kicking off this week. Marjorie Liu, Grek Pak and David Lapham (writer of the three books) tell Marvel.com about the collision of X-Men from alternate realities. The talented trio collaborated on this week’s X-Termination Alpha #1 together before the story hits each book.
The gang’s almost all here for X-Men: Days of Future Past! The cast of the original trilogy and X-Men: First Class will unite for the new film based on the classic Chris Claremont comic book story involving time travel.

In Wolverine and the X-Men #23 Jason Aaron resurrected Azazel. The first storyline (The Draco) that introduced the demonic villain was controversial at the time and Azazel went to limbo (not the Magik kind either.) The character popped up in the X-Men: First Class movie. Aaron tells Comic Book Resources why he brought Nightcrawler’s father back into comics.
“The reasons to bring him back are many-fold, as we’ll see over the course of the next two to three arcs. I didn’t really worry about the fact that the original storyline he appeared in was very divisive. I don’t think there are any bad characters. It’s more how you write that character and what you do with them.
I’ve had plans for Azazel for a long time and his return means we’ll start to see the explanation of why there are Bamfs in the Jean Grey School. That, of course, goes back to our very first issue. This is all stuff that’s been in the works for a very long time and will come to a head later in the year in what will probably be the biggest arc we’ve ever done with “Wolverine & the X-Men.”
In The Draco story it was revealed that Azazel and Mystique were the parents of Nightcrawler. Mystique will be a major villain in All-New X-Men with an agenda involving the original five X-Men. Imagine Raven’s reaction when she learns Azazel is back? Could this lead to Mystique working with the X-Men? With Azazel’s return could this signal the resurrection of the real Kurt Wagner?
