DC Comics Most Anticipated 2013

My Most Anticipated DC Comics of 2013:

Death of the Family Conclusion! Who will live? Who will die? Will the Joker succeed at his plan to sever Batman from his friends and allies? Gotham City and the Batman family may look and feel frighteningly different after February! I have this feeling that Batman or one of his allies will be pushed too far by the Joker’s games and kill.

Trinity War Superman and Wonder Woman are the new power couple of DC Comics. Only Batman knows about their secret romance…that we know of! How will DC’s biggest three icons factor in the 2013 event. How will the Steve Trevor-led Justice League of America play into the conflict?

 Multiversity Grant Morrison teams up with an all-star art team to bring back the Multiverse in a new 8-part maxi-series set in 6 different universes. Prepare to have your mind blown and senses shattered!

Batman Incorporated #12 Morrison is leaving monthly superhero books for now. I can only imagine how Morrison and Chris Burnham will chronicle the final battle in the war between the forces of Batman Inc and Leviathan! How will Morrison execute the final showdown of Bruce Wayne versus Talia Al Ghul? Could the Batman Inc and Death of the Family finales mean the end of Damian?

Superman To celebrate the Man of Steel film and 75th Anniversary DC recruited two of their biggest creative guns for a brand new series. Scott Snyder (Batman) and Jim Lee (Justice League) will create a new series for DC’s biggest icon. Snyder redefinied Batman and Gotham City with a brand new enemy (Court of Owls) and the comeback of a classic rogue (Joker.) How will Snyder take the Man of Steel of new heights?

Where’s Raven DC Comics?

With Grant Morrison and DC Comics confirming his upcoming Multiversity epic  I’m inspired to make my pitch again for the return of Raven to The New 52.

If we can’t have the real Raven back when how about an alternate universe in which the Marv Wolfman/George Perez Teen Titans are the ultimate heroes – this world’s Justice League. This would give us Raven but give us what he can’t have in the DC proper universe –

I would love to see Raven conquer Azarath, Trigon and all her demons to become the ultimate dark heroine of DC  – in any universe!

Grant Morrison Reveals MULTIVERSITY

  Grant Morrison has finally unveiled his upcoming project Multiversity. Morrison previewed the 8 part story at Morrisoncon this weekend in Las Vegas. DC Comics confirmed this story will define the Multiverse for The New 52 and introduce new concepts, heroes and villains according to The Source.

  “There’s something always appealing about a Russian Superman and a vampire Batman,” Morrison tells Heat Vision. “It’s a different way  of looking at the archetypes that we’re familiar with. And I wanted to a really massive story that would be my Lord of the Rings and it would be the best thing I’ve ever done. Whether it is, I don’t know. But I’ve certainly spent a long time on it.”

  “If you’re having a war across multiple parallel realities, one way they can contact each other is to publish comic books that others can read and know what’s going on,” says Morrison. “So in each parallel reality you’ll see one of them is reading the comic that you just read the month before and finding out what happened to the good guys, giving them a chance to defeat the bad guys in the next one. They are kind of passing on, in a chain, their own adventures.”

  Pax Americana was revealed at MorrisonCon. This issue will feature the Blue Beetle, The Question and Captain Atom. These heroes are part of the group of characters known as the Charlton heroes – the company bought by DC. The Pax story involves the assassination of a president and how the Charlton characters failed. Frank Quitely will be the artist on this issue.

  “We’re taking the characters and applying it back to Watchmen and seeing what we could get. Nobody has really used those Alan Moore tricks in 25 years so it seemed right to take that very tight, controlled, self-reflecting storytelling and seeing if we can do something new with it,” Morrison explains.

  Morrison is leaving monthly books – Batman Incorporated and Action Comics but this is Multiversity will not be his final superhero project.

“All I ever said is  I’m not doing the monthly comics once I finish up Batman and Superman. I’ll never leave superhero stuff because I really enjoy doing it.
