Spider-Man Vampire Morbius Gets His Own Series

One of Spider-Man’s most tragic and frightening foes will get his own series this January. Marvel announced a new Morbius series at Fan Expo Canada. Writer Joe Keatinge and artist Rich Elson are the creative team on the new ongoing starring The Living Vampire.

“AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #699.1 (coming in December) is essentially MORBIUS #0,” asserts Keatinge. “If you’ve never read a Morbius comic book before, ASM #699.1 gets you up to date on absolutely everything there is to know about him. It takes him from where Dan Slott and company took him to and sets him on the course of everything Rich and I have in store.”

“He’s not over the guilt, that’s for sure,” the writer says. “He’s a guy very much crippled by it. How he gets through that is a major thrust of our initial arc.

“Every goal [Morbius] has is ultimately focused on redemption and atonement. Curing himself is definitely part of that. We’re giving him an opportunity to do just that, but given his history you can bet it’s not going to go well.”

Morbius and the Lizard were villains in Dan Slott’s Amazing Spider-Man arc this summer while Dr. Connors was stalking Spidey on the big screen. I think Morbius would be a perfectly creepy new villain for an Amazing Spider-Man sequel.

Amazing Spider-Man Trilogy and Future Villains

Red, black and blue! The Amazing Spider-Man is swinging high over this extended 4th of July holiday week. The new film is the first of a trilogy as revealed on the film’s official Facebook page.

“It’s finally here! The Amazing Spider-Man is the first installment in a movie trilogy that will explore how our fave hero’s journey was shaped by the disappearance of his parents.”

Who will Spidey face in the sequel?

“I think you have to be pretty protective of the canon when it comes to villains,” he observes. “And Spider-Man has a great rogues gallery, so there’s a lot to choose from,” Director Marc Webb tells the Hollywood Reporter Heat Vision.

“Movies like this tend to have sequels, [though] ultimately the audience will tell us if they want one. But I kind of thought it was an interesting thing to anticipate those storylines and think about the backstories and how we can parlay those into an ongoing story,” he adds.

The truth about Peter’s parents and top-secret genetic research inside Oscorp could drive the storylines of future films.

The Chameleon was the first supervillain Spidey faced. This master of diguise and spy who executed a cruel hoax involving Peter’s parents. He was also the half-brother of…

Kraven the Hunter was a big game hunter who became obsessed with killing the most elusive prey – Spidey-Man. Kraven’s Last Hunt is a masterpiece and one of my favorite Spidey epics.

Michael Morbius was a scientist with a rare blood disease who used vampire bats in his experimental treatments that turned him into…a living vampire. Morbius and the Lizard are both featured in the current Amazing Spider-Man comic book storyline out now.

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone (as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy) face the Lizard in Amazing Spider-Man but one monster is not enough for the comic book Spidey! If you love the cinematic webslinger then it’s a great time to start reading Amazing Spider-Man.

Dan Slott is pushing Peter Parker to the limit with not one but two monsters on the loose in this week’s Amazing Spider-Man #689. Chapter Two of No Turning Back finds Morbius the Living Vampire is on the loose. Dr. Curt Connors is cured. So who or what is the other Lizard creature on the loose?

“This summer we’re giving you a chiller; we’re going from wall-crawling to skin crawling,” Writer Dan Slott tells Marvel.com.

Dr. Curt Connors aka The Lizard (Rhys Ifans) will torment Andrew Garfield in the big screen reboot Amazing Spider-Man in just weeks. Dan Slott unleashes the Lizard in this week’s Amazing Spider-Man #688 with art by Giuseppe Camucolo. The rampaging reptilian isn’t the only horrific foe in this new storyline. Spidey is caught between the Lizard and Morbius the Vampire as he tries to cure Dr. Curt Connors.

“We’ve had funny stories, crime stories, team-up stories, summer blockbuster stories, personal stories—this time, we’re going for horror,” Slott tells Marvel.com. “This summer we’re giving you a chiller; we’re going from wall-crawling to skin crawling.”

My favorite Lizard story is Torment. This was in Spider-Man #1-5 written and drawn By Todd McFarlane. And I recommend The Gauntlet storyline because I love how Chris Bachalo draws the Lizard.
