MARVEL’S DEFENDERS Big Burning Questions

THE DEFENDERS is now streaming on Netflix. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist came together in an epic showdown with The Hand.

The team-up series delivered thrilling action, perfect humor, heartbreak and raw emotion as the street-level heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe paid painful prices for victory.

THE DEFENDERS took comics canon and expanded their own mythology. The finale – oh that finale – leaves fans with big burning questions about what could happen next for Jess, Matt, Luke, Danny – not to mention Misty and Colleen. Continue reading MARVEL’S DEFENDERS Big Burning Questions

To celebrate Black History Month here’s a look at ten of the most influential black characters who helped make comics continuity more inclusive and inspire future creators and readers. Fictional characters are not as important as civil rights leaders, athletes, artists or scientists but it’s important to see diversity in the pages and panels.

As we celebrate Black History Month we’re inspired to salute African-American superheroes and update fans on their status in their comic book universes.

With Anthony Mackie’s breakout performance as Falcon in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Chadwick Boseman (42) cast as Black Panther and the return of Milestone Media with new and returning heroes – a lot has happened in a year.

Fictional superheroes are not as critical as real civil rights leaders, scientists, boundary breaking athletes and artists but it’s important to celebrate diversity in comic books. Most of these black characters were created by white males but we hope by recognizing these characters it might inspire new writers, artists and editors of all backgrounds to push for new voices and greater diversity in making comics and inside comics. An all-different Valkyrie and always badass Misty Knight welcome a new lethal lady to the team in Fearless Defenders #8 by Cullen Bunn and Will Sliney with another stunning Mark Brooks cover showing off Val’s new uniform.

The trio of Valkyrie, Misty and Dr. Annabelle Riggs (along with Dani Moonstar and Hippolyta) triumphed in their first arc but with a terrible price. Annabelle died by a possessed Valkyrie and now the two share a body. The dueling duality is another great twist by Bunn that provides more drama and humor to this team.

Nextwave fans will be thrilled to see Elsa Bloodstone has been recruited by Misty for their new arc Continue reading FEARLESS DEFENDERS #8 Review
