Super Secrecy Around MAN OF STEEL

Man of Steel soars into theaters this Summer. We know the Superman reboot will have the characters you expect (Lois, Perry, the Kents, Jor-El) but the film is still shrouded in secrecy much like the The Dark Knight trilogy. David S. Goyer talks with Total Film about the top secret project and how “dark” the Man of Steel will be portrayed:

“It’s something Chris [Nolan] tried hard to do with the Batman films,” said Goyer, who had script and/or story credits in The Dark Knight trilogy. “I’m genuinely pleased with how much secrecy we’ve been able to maintain.

“There’s so much of the movie that people Continue reading Super Secrecy Around MAN OF STEEL

Superman Unchained #1 by Scott Snyder and Jim Lee is one of THE most anticipated new comic book series of the year – it’s the Man of Steel’s 75th Anniversary! First came the creative dream. Then came the title of the new brand new book. Now we know how the new Man of Steel series begins.

Here’s how DC Comics teased the first issue:

When thirteen satellites fall from the sky in one day, the logical suspect is Lex Luthor—even though he’s still locked up in prison! But a stranger question remains: If Superman didn’t stop the last satellite from falling, who did? There’s a mystery hidden where even Superman can’t see it Continue reading Secret of SUPERMAN UNCHAINED?

Comic Book & Sci Fi Movies of 2013

Will the OSCARS celebrate sci-fi, comic book or horror ever again? Avatar was the most recent sci-fi film to be nominated for an Academy Award. Looper should have a contender at least for screenplay. Oscar buzz inspired this list of my most anticipated genre movies in 2013. These flicks have not receive Oscars but could be next year’s Geek Oscar contenders:

#10 Sin City: A Dame To Kill For Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller take us back to the notorious haven of crime, corruption and women with dangerous curves! Eva Green as Ava, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Josh Brolin join the hard-core citzens of Basin City! October 29.

#9 Oblivion Tom Cruise is a repairman of the future who finds a clan of humans (led by Morgan Freeman) on what’s supposed to be a scorched Earth! This new film from director Joseph Kosinski looks action packed and thought-provoking. April 19.

#8 Kick-Ass 2 Sadistic, satirical and twisted! More “real” superheroics from the mind of Mark Millar. Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars and Stripes is among the new citizen heroes that follows Kick-Ass’s crusade but the Red Mist is plotting vengeance against the vigilantes! June 28.

#7 World War Z I absolutely love the book by Max Brooks. I already know the film is very different from the novel. It really should have been a cable series like the Band of Brothers of zombies. I choose to believe in the Pitt…Brad Pitt! June 21.

#6 Pacific Rim Guillerno del Toro. Giant Robots. Giant Monsters. They had me with del Toro and giant anything! July 12.

#5 Thor: The Dark World Chris Hemsworth portrays the Odinson again as Thor returns to Asgard! Malekitch (Christopher Eccleston of Doctor Who fame) leads the Dark Elves and the powerhouse Kurse! Will Loki be forgiven of his crimes in The Avengers? This cosmic clash is sure to be action packed and could include more of the Shakespearean family drama as Loki could find a shot at redemption. November 8.

#4 Iron Man 3 Even after The Avengers I still believe fans want to see Robert Downey, Jr solo. Tony Stark’s world is obliterated by his arch-enemy. This third film unleashes the Mandarin (Oscar winner Ben Kingsley) and introduces the threat of Extremis and the Iron Patriot armor. The trailer is dark but I’m excited to see Shane Black direct a great performance out of Downey as a dethroned Tony fights his way back. May 3.

#3 The Wolverine I believe this is the movie that will be the definitive Wolverine story! The X-Man will faces an army of ninjas, the Silver Samurai and the woman who will change his life. Based on the classic series by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller and directed by James Mangold – this could be Continue reading Comic Book & Sci Fi Movies of 2013

SUPERMAN UNBOUND Against Brainiac!

Superman soars on the big screen in Man of Steel but you can watch a modern classic Superman story on the small screen at home! Henry Cavill will face off against General Zod (Michael Shannon) but the Kryptonian born hero faces a different arch enemy in Superman Unbound.

In this Nerdist Exclusive preview of the upcoming movie we see Superman, Supergirl, the invasion of Kandor and one of my favorite villians: Brainiac!

The animated film is based on the Geoff Johns Action Comics story. Brainiac started out as a green guy in a pink suit but evolved into a monstrous machine capable of wiping out planets.

Take a look:

Matt Bomer (White Collar) is the voice of the Man of Steel in this film. John Noble (Fringe, Lord of the Rings) is the Brainiac.

Thanks to the mighty Nerdist – a MUST for nerds!

It’s not a bird! It’s not a plane! It’s Superman looking brave and bold!

Empire Magazine

unveiled their March issue cover with Henry Cavill as Superman in Man of Steel.

Zack Snyder directed the latest movie reboot of the DC icon. Just like the DC Comics The New 52 comic book counterpart, this Superman has ditched the red trunks.

What do you think of this look?

Man of Steel soars this Summer as part of Superman’s 75th Anniversary.

Scott Snyder and Jim Lee are the creative team on a brand new Superman series from DC Comics. No word on a title yet but speculation is it will be Man of Steel.
