On this Giving Tuesday, it’s a day when you can share the holiday spirit with a donation to a charity.

Here’s our favorite non-profit that makes wishes come true for heroic kids fighting illnesses: Make-A-Wish.

The power of wish fulfillment gives sick kids an escape and helps with their recovery. You have the power to help grant wishes and you don’t need alien rings, lamps or mental powers. Continue reading Be A Hero This GIVING TUESDAY

I’m a little late but our tradition continues of 15 Geek Wishes for 2015.

Here’s what we hope will happen this year with some of our favorite comic book characters, creators and publishers.

Batman: The Next Generation Rises

As we await the finales of Batman: Endgame and Batman Eternal and the impact of Convergence one thing is for sure – we want the Batman family. Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo have introduced a compelling cast of new heroes (Harper Row, Duke Thomas, Lark, Cullen Row.) Continue reading 15 Geek Wishes for 2015

Nick Looney is a second grader fighting cancer but he became Red Lightning today thanks to Make-A-Wish.

After two years of battling a disease, Nick fulfilled his dream of becoming a superhero.

Thanks Nick for your bravery and Red Lightning for saving Seattle’s music scene. Macklemore was among the Seattle music icons who sent thank you messages to the young hero.

A hero rises when Red Lightning saves Seattle music.

When seven-year-old Nick Looney awoke today he was a boy with a love of superheroes (we fully support that!)

This already extraordinary boy was transformed and embarked upon the ultimate Seattle superhero adventure. Nick went from a second-grader fighting leukemia into a superhero character created especially for him: Red Lightning.

Seattle needed Red Lightning to save our beloved music history! Continue reading RED LIGHTNING SAVES SEATTLE MUSIC

We introduced you to a new superhero: Red Lightning!

But what is a hero without villains and a crime to solve?

Here’s the story courtesy the Make-A-Wish team:

“Seattle-based musician relics, including a Univox Hy-Flyer guitar smashed by Kurt Cobain, a Fender Stratocaster played by Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock, a Bengal tiger jacket worn by Macklemore in the “Thrift Shop” music video and Technics SL-1200 MK2 turntables used in performance by Grandmaster Flash, have gone missing from the EMP Museum. Superhero’s United is being contacted to help us solve the mystery. Continue reading RED LIGHTNING & Meet the Villains!

A new Seattle Superhero is born this week!

From our friends at Make-A-Wish:

“Superheroes come in all shapes and sizes – from caped crusaders protecting cities to children like seven-year-old Nick, who is fearlessly battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Now undergoing his second round of chemotherapy, Nick has tapped into his superhero strength and spirit to endure a dosage that is typically given to much older children.

“He never complains, EVER,” said his mom, Stephanie.  “Nick rarely gets sick, but after he does, he is smiling and running off to play. He is literally the strongest person I have ever met.” With heroic strength like this, it’s no surprise he wished to be transformed into a superhero alter-ego of his own creation: Red Lightning!
