ResurrXion is the big X-Men even in 2017 following Inhumans vs. X-Men.

But is the seed of ResurrXion and savior of a doomed mutant race found in this week’s Uncanny X-Men Annual #1?

Over the years, Annuals seem like bonus issues that may be good reads but not critical to an ongoing or future storyline.

You may want to run back to your comic book shop if you skipped this issue thinking “it’s just an annual.”

Writer Cullen Bunn re-teams with artist Ken Lashley for a story that resolves a big event from the current Uncanny X-Men run and may be even bigger for next year’s entire X-line. Continue reading X-MEN Annual Reveals ResurrXion Origin?

Marvel revealed an ominous teaser via Twitter that sends a chill into the hearts of X-Fans:

The “Death of X” coming Fall 2016.

No official word on if this is an event, new book or story arc featuring what we assume is the X-Men.

Things are already bleak for the mutants since the All-New, All-Different Marvel Now began following Secret Wars:

M-Pox is spreading as the Terrigen Mists that create new Inhumans are killing and sterilizing mutants. No new mutants are being born and others are dying after exposure to the Mists.

Cyclops died (off-screen) in an attack on the Inhumans. Storm took the school to Limbo to create X-Haven to protect mutants from the mists in Extraordinary X-Men.  Could Death of X reveal what happened to Cyclops and other missing mutants like Emma Frost in the 8 months after Secret Wars and the relaunch? A double blast from the past in this week’s Uncanny X-Men #3 plus a big new revelation about an X-Man’s allegiance and the mystery villains in Cullen Bunn’s first arc.

Terrigen Mists are creeping across the planet making mutants sick, infertile and dead. Magneto recruited a ruthless squadron of mutants to investigate a corporation profiting from the crisis. The Dark Riders are back and killing mutant healers. Bunn revealed a new Hellfire Club is waiting in the wings but are they pulling the strings of two rogue X-Men?

The hunt for answers and to protect the healers leads to the return of two X-Men of the recent and distant past. We knew Fantomex was joining the cast of the series but not in the way you might have expected. Continue reading UNCANNY X-MEN COMEBACKS & MYSTERY MASTERS

Silence the critics.

Kill the cancellation conspiracy theories.

Marvel put superstars Jeff Lemire and Humberto Ramos on the new flagship X-book and the future is Extraordinary.

After reading X-books for decades and seeing everything, Extraordinary X-Men #1 still made me excited and energized for the next evolution of the mutant heroes.

Set eight months after the Secret Wars finale and the events of Uncanny X-Men #600, the Children of the Atom are facing a new threat as humanity fears and hates them like never before. Continue reading EXTRAORDINARY X-MEN #1 Review
