POWER WOMEN of COMICS

No powers, no problem. These characters are some of the most iconic and breakthrough women in comics.

They don’t have super powers but they are powerful in the careers in the DC and Marvel Universes.

We decided to honor these female characters without powers, costumes or code-names.

We love Batwoman, Batgirl, Harley Quinn, The Spoiler and Elektra but we are focusing on the strong women of science, government, law and order and strong in character.

Let’s kick it off with the ruthless power player in the DC Universe: Continue reading POWER WOMEN of COMICS

SUPERWOMAN Shockers

After recovering from Superwoman #1 I realized something: this was the first genuine shock I read in a comic book in a long time. that I didn’t see coming. No leaks. No spoilers. No pre-release hype. Did I miss a press release?
I just read a stunning comic book and felt a genuine surprising gut punch I didn’t see coming. It was wonderful.

(In fact, before you keep reading stop and go get Superwoman #1 from your local comic book shop and come back.)

We live in an age when publishers spill the “shocker” in hopes you will go get the issue to see how it happened. We live in an age of spoilers and leaks hitting social media sites before a reader can even get to the shop. We always believe in giving SPOILER ALERTS even if an issue, movie or episode in out before we continue our discussion just in case.

With Superwoman #1 Phil Jimenez packs more action, emotion, twists and thrills in 20 pages than you often find a a double-sized mega issue. The fan-favorite creator pulls double duty as writer and artist in a premiere issue loaded with doubles. Continue reading SUPERWOMAN Shockers

Scott Snyder. Jim Lee. Superman Unchained.

The Man of Steel by two all-star creative superstars.

The entire nine-issue epic arrives in a deluxe hardcover this week.

With chilling sagas Batman, Swamp Thing and The Wake – how dark did Snyder make this Superman story?

“I really like stories where characters are challenged by their worst fears. Superman is facing someone new and it’s going to shake him. It’s not horror, and there’s humor between the characters, but it’s definitely about dealing with something that frightens him. Continue reading SUPERMAN UNCHAINED The Collection

It’s a super romantic triangle but it’s the fans who could be swooning or heartbroken.

In The New 52 Superman is not married to Lois Lane but in love with Wonder Woman.

Could DC Comics be splitting up the super couple to put Lois and Clark back together?

It all started with the iconic kiss in Justice League #12. Even non-comic book readers were asking, “what about Lois?!”

Convergence will be a major event in 2015 featuring heroes and villains from decades of DC continuity. The nine-week event will include 20 two-part stories set in these multiple worlds including this one starring Superman and a pregnant Lois Lane by veteran Man of Steel writer Dan Jurgens.
